This post can be read in about 3 minutes.

I'd like to introduce "Kimi ga Shine -Majority Rule Death Game-," a free adventure game released on February 8, 2018.
Only the first chapter has been released so far, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Playing at a leisurely pace, it would probably take about three hours.

Synopsis

The official game description was as simple as follows:

■Game Introduction
Those chosen by majority vote will die.
A retro horror story featuring 11 people gathered together, who engage in a verbal battle for their survival.

That's all.
This alone might not make much sense, but the setting is a classic, typical one often found in death games.

To briefly explain the introduction, it covers the following points:
The protagonist, high school girl Sarah, is kidnapped when she returns home and wakes up being held captive along with her friend Joe, who was walking home with her.
After somehow surviving the first death game, you find yourself surrounded by other people who have been kidnapped in the same way, and you must explore the building and overcome the challenges together.

Game content

The gameplay involves navigating a map using commands and solving puzzles by exploring the screen with a pointer. It's a trial-and-error type adventure game.
However, mini-games are interspersed throughout the game, keeping players engaged.

The difficulty level isn't particularly high, but combined with the story, it creates a very tense atmosphere.

thoughts

I think anyone who likes the "Danganronpa" series or the "Ace Attorney" series should definitely give this a try.
The initial challenges, for example, were reminiscent of the movie "SAW," which I personally found very appealing.
The main majority-rule game part is a mix of Werewolf, Danganronpa, and Ace Attorney.
As expected from a work created by a professional manga artist, the graphics are beautiful and feature a distinctive color scheme, giving it a unique atmosphere reminiscent of Danganronpa.
The characters are all unique, and each one has a distinct personality.
The text is well-written, and various mysteries and plot points are scattered throughout.
Since it's only the first chapter, not many plot points have been resolved yet, but the story is developing in a very exciting way.
To be more specific, moving around the map is a bit cumbersome.
I wish I could move around just by clicking on doors and other objects on the screen.
To move around the map, you have to click "Move" at the bottom of the screen, but the subsequent options appear at the top of the screen, so it's a bit of a hassle to move the pointer to the top.
However, since "movement" cannot be selected using the keyboard, you have to operate it using either a mouse and keyboard or just the mouse, which is a bit stressful.

However, this is a minor flaw, so I would recommend playing the game without worrying about it.

The game of "Russian Roulette" that you'll be forced to play midway through is a pretty good death game.
There are many death game stories out there, but I feel like there aren't any yet that involve players thinking for themselves and figuring things out on their own.
I want to play lots of games like this, where, if you think about it carefully, there's a surefire way to win.
I'm really looking forward to its release.
