This is an article introducing the SRPG Studio game "Invincible Transformation Asylum V".
This game features battles with retro-style super robots, and as of February 2026, you can play up to episode 25, which completes the first part of the game.
This is a cutting-edge work that makes lavish use of original graphics and entertains with parodies that feel like you've seen them somewhere before.
On normal difficulty, it took me about 10 hours to complete the game.
Game Overview

The story follows the protagonist, Ban Gedo, as he pilots the invincible giant robot "Asylum V," developed by Dr. Gedo, to fight against aquatic humans who suddenly attack from the sea.
This SRPG will stir up a variety of emotions with its immoral dialogue, touching episodes, and playful naming sense.

One of the system's key features is that weapons are generally unlocked as you level up.
Some general-purpose weapons and items can be equipped by various units, but the number that can be carried is limited.
Other parameters besides HP include EN and SP.
EN is mainly consumed when using weapons and can be restored by using items.
SP is consumed when using mental commands and recovers naturally over time.
Since running out of EN (energy) limits your means of attacking enemies, resource management is crucial.

In addition to leveling up, you can strengthen your units by investing funds.
While it won't dramatically improve your units, this unit enhancement is one of the requirements for class changes, so it's a good idea to do it when you have the time.

While the series features striking visuals and outrageous dialogue, it also includes sudden, heartwarming episodes, making it a good choice for those who enjoy being swept along by the story's unpredictable nature.
Impressions up to the completion of Part 1 (no spoilers)

I had a lot of fun playing.
In terms of console games, it felt like playing Super Robot Wars, and in terms of free games, it felt similar to "Shinsetsu Mahou Shoujo".
The story is driven by strong characters, but because many of the characters are explored in depth, it also has a strong feel as an ensemble drama.
The silly graphics and dialogue might be misleading, but I think there were many episodes that were truly touching.

Regarding the gameplay, resource management was crucial, resulting in a somewhat challenging difficulty level.
Aside from the main character, the other characters have low durability and will be defeated after taking several hits from enemies, so positioning yourself to avoid being targeted by multiple enemies is crucial for a balanced gameplay experience.
Powerful attacks require EN, and it's a waste if your allies are shot down while you still have a lot of EN remaining. So, if you lose a lot of EN early in the game, it can be quite difficult.
Once you get the hang of it to some extent, I think you'll be able to complete the game more consistently.
There aren't many required strategies, so I feel it's more of a character-driven game where you enjoy the story and characters rather than one where you enjoy the strategy aspect.
If you're a little tired of typical fantasy SRPGs, you might find this a refreshing change of pace.
Since Part 2 is scheduled to be implemented in the future, I will be keeping a close eye on it.
Strategy Notes - Normal Mode (Spoiler Warning)
I've gone to the trouble of creating strategy notes for each episode, but I think you can fight using the same strategy patterns if you just put your strongest units at the forefront.
This section summarizes some basic tips for success.
• The importance of sub-energy tanks
Units that run out of EN (energy) will have difficulty attacking enemies, so make sure to actively restore their EN.
Yubari's strength lies in its long-range attacks, but when its energy runs out, it's forced into close-quarters combat, which is its weakness, making it difficult to be an effective combatant.
Equip your units with sub-energy tanks to prepare for prolonged battles.
- Place units with SP that restore HP on the front lines.
In this game, there are limited ways to recover HP.
In this context, units that can recover HP by consuming naturally regenerating SP are tough and easy to use.
Ban, Totti, and Suzuki can recover relatively easily even after taking some damage from enemy attacks, so it's a good idea to put them on the front lines.
- Increase your attack options with general-purpose weapons.
If there are ranges that are difficult to cover with the weapons that are originally equipped, consider equipping your unit with purchased weapons.
Giving a character a powerful weapon can be an interesting way to give them some kind of distinguishing feature.
For example, it was useful to give Yuubari a weapon with a range of 2 (such as Deathlight), Suzuki a projectile with a range of 2 (such as shuriken or Southern Cross), and Totti a MAP weapon like the High Mega Derringer (which makes him more likely to be on the front lines).
・Utilize MAP weapons
When there are many enemies, it's difficult to fight them using only normal attacks.
Actively target area-of-effect (MAP) weapons to efficiently inflict damage on the enemy.
Positioning your units to attack together can put you in danger during the enemy's turn.
In that case, you can operate with peace of mind by using Totti's bodyguard and support effects, as well as the rescue using the support arm that becomes available in the later stages.
- About fake asylums
Although it has low durability and is easily defeated, when Yunyun enters the poisonous electromagnetic state, it becomes uncontrollable but its stats increase and it becomes stronger.
If you don't have any particular preference, it's a good idea to actively create a state of "toxic radio waves."
Episode 1: Heart-Pounding Asylum V
It's not particularly difficult.
It's a good idea to take advantage of the terrain and fight on top of houses.
Episode 2: A Mysterious Robot Appears!
Let's not attack from our side, but instead fight on top of the Gedo Research Institute.
You can obtain high terrain effects and healing effects.
As for Totty and Yuubari, who will appear as reinforcements, let's send them straight to the Gedo Research Institute and intercept them there.
Since targets other than Asylum tend to be targeted, if your units get injured, move them back upwards and use commands to heal them.
Episode 3: The Unicorn's Counterattack!
With Asylum leading the way, let's use Igarashi's plasma wave gun to wipe out the enemies as they line up in a straight line.
Fighting on roads and bridges is heavily affected by terrain, so positioning yourself to avoid fighting in those areas will give you a significant advantage.
If you get injured, use items or commands to heal yourself.
Episode 4: Protect Our School Building!
If the enemy reaches the high school, we will lose, so let's attack from the south.
Allies and enemies appear from the left and right, but instead of letting them fight each other, I gathered them in the center and intercepted them.
Try to position your allies behind roads, bases, and other unfavorable terrain to force the enemy to wait in a disadvantageous position.
There are many enemies, making it difficult to intercept them, but the stronger enemies are dangerous if left unchecked, so concentrate your attacks and eliminate them as quickly as possible.
It's best to use friendly NPCs as cover or to buy time.
Episode 5: The Mystery of the Abducting UFO!
This map involves chasing after the fleeing Karkinos N4.
Due to the event, your movement speed will decrease by 1 from the 4th turn onwards, so you should be able to catch up without panicking.
I think we can manage without taking the risk of using the roads to pursue them.
Persebes doesn't move, but you can get money by defeating him, so it's a good idea to take him down if possible.
Once you've accumulated enough SP, use your buff skills to strengthen your characters and fight.
Episode 6: The 750cc Motorcycle on Tiptoes
This map repeats twice: once you eliminate all the enemies currently in place, new reinforcements will appear.
Be careful not to get out of breath.
Although Joji is only level 1, he has high attack power, so it's a good idea to have him deliver the finishing blows as much as possible to level him up.
When the final reinforcements arrive, our own reinforcements will also arrive, so don't hold back and fight!
Episode 7: The Strongest Creature - The Gorilla

The gorilla will retreat and you'll receive money if its HP drops below 37.
If the enemies line up nicely, you can take them all out at once with the Plasma Wave Gun or High Mega Derringer, so aim for that.
The target, Hypnos S1, will enter interception mode and begin moving once you get close enough.
Since defeating them completes the level, if you're aiming to eliminate all enemies, avoid getting too close.
Episode 8: The Sleeping Island at the Edge of the South Seas
This episode is almost entirely about events.
I really loved that episode.
Episode 9: The Amazing Guy Who Came from North America
In the first half, Jake is a formidable opponent.
Since it receives support effects from the surrounding regular members, you can weaken it by first defeating the surrounding enemies.
Use the plasma wave gun effectively to take down the regular members first.
In the second half of the battle, first gather your allies together and then have them intercept the enemy at that location.
I think the battle will be much easier if you fight while being mindful of the support effects.
Episode 10: The Amazing Guy Returns to North America
When Ban approaches the asylum, the asylum flees to a distance.
After that, you can clear the stage by moving adjacent to it again.
There are many enemies, and reinforcements keep appearing.
Use your allies as cover while fighting and taking advantage of the terrain.
Some enemies will prioritize attacking barbarians, so use them wisely as decoys.
I think it's important to put units that can recover on their own by consuming SP on the front lines.
Episode 11: Atem S2 is a cursed child
Atem S2 has a wide range, so you'll want to take him down as quickly as possible.
Atem's presence slightly reduces the attack power of surrounding enemies, but since long-range attacks are more dangerous, it is recommended to defeat him as quickly as possible.
After defeating Atem, wait for your allies to rejoin you from the rear, then avoid the road and slowly engage the enemy.
Episode 12 Assault! Gedo Research Institute
After clearing this story, you will be able to change your mecha (so-called class change) from the development room.
Since there are many conditions such as money, proficiency level, and unit enhancement, it will probably be a while before it can be actually used.

This map is cleared when the enemy's 13th turn is over.
You could go and defeat them, but it's generally safer to fight them in the research lab, taking advantage of the terrain's effects.
Episode 13: Giselle and Brutich
Having these standalone episodes adds depth to the story, which is great.
Sometimes, too much in-depth exploration of the characters can become overwhelming, so having something like this to cleanse the palate and offer a different flavor was a welcome change.
Episode 14: The Evil Fake Asylum
The fake Asylum is a formidable enemy with high attack power, so be careful to retreat while engaging in combat and avoid fighting multiple enemies at once.
It's easier to fight if you use the terrain to your advantage and aim to wipe out groups of enemies lined up in a straight line along the road with map-wide attacks.
Instead of fighting on the roads as before, try fighting in areas with good terrain advantages, such as around buildings.
Episode 15: The Wicked Barbarian Gets Sick of Raw Oysters

First and foremost, this is a map where you'll want to destroy the icebergs.
Many units have significantly reduced movement speed underwater, so it's best to gather near the area shown in the image above to intercept the enemy.
Once you've defeated the Apatite that pops up early on, there aren't many other enemies that are particularly tough.
It's best to use the units you want to train to battle.
Episode 16: Having Tea Together
There are many areas with tricky terrain that can make it difficult to position yourself effectively during battles.
It's best to send the high-combat-power Barbarian unit ahead, while the other units move as close together as possible and focus on long-range attacks.
Episode 17: Activation! The Great Armored Beast Operation
This map is tough because there are so many enemies.
Since you lose if Joji is defeated, fight with the intention of protecting him.
Since you can control Joji's position to some extent using the support arm, you may not need to worry about it too much.
Since this map is quite long, make sure to equip units that are significantly weakened by running out of energy with a secondary energy tank.
Episode 18: Yuubari does her best
This map features a battle fought by only three characters: Yuubari, Robota, and Fake Asylum.
The first enemy will head towards the allied forces holding back the dam.
It would be wise to launch an attack on land relatively early.
The game should end if even one Allied aircraft is shot down, but it didn't end (v1.04 - possibly a bug).
Since it's difficult to move freely underwater, it's easier to move Yuubari using Robota's assisting arm.
That final roar might be...
Episode 19: The Completely Exposed Assassin Paris N7
The threat lies in the fact that Paris N7 attacks anywhere every few turns.
The only countermeasure is to use Totti's bodyguard or support effects to protect the unit that is being targeted beforehand.
I don't think the Allied forces can hold out with this, but if they are our allies, they should be able to withstand it to some extent, especially with the terrain effects.
The best strategy is to advance as quickly as possible and defeat them.
Episode 20: The Man Who Came from a Distant Sea
Overall, the enemy's attack power was high, and many of our allies were defeated.
The terrain effect that increases defense is not enough to guarantee safety, so use support effects and be careful to avoid being hit by concentrated attacks by retreating while engaging in counterattacks.
Episode 21: The heavily armored general, Krebs.
There aren't that many enemies, but Krebs is a formidable opponent.
After eliminating the surrounding enemies, let's all focus our attack on them.
After defeating Krebs, a small number of reinforcements will appear, so it's a good idea to leave some strength in reserve.
Episode 22: The Legacy of the Wicked Doctor!
I think it would be easier to intercept them if we wait on top of the research lab as usual.
If the enemy lines up in a straight line, you can launch a map weapon and use the support arm to retrieve any allies who have advanced too far, making for a relatively safe battle.
Episode 23: Fight! Donketsu Kamen
Enemies are approaching from all directions.
Moving to the southern half of the map is dangerous because it involves crossing narrow roads with poor terrain effects.
First, aim for the upper left and try to defeat the enemy there.
By making full use of map-wide weapons, extra actions, and support arms, I think it's easier to take down multiple enemies at once, even if they're clustered together.
Be careful when defeating Donketsukamen, as it will revive with half its HP.
Episode 24: Give Up and Die
The sandy area in the center reduces movement speed, so it's easier to engage your units in combat from a different location.
It will be easier to fight enemies clustered together in the sand using area-of-effect weapons.
Donketsukamen is tough because he fires map-wide weapons when your allies are clustered together, so it might be easier to fight him if you send Ban ahead from the start.
Be careful, as these enemies will revive once you defeat them.
Episode 25: Born from Iron...
This is the final map of the first part, which is a bit of a long one.
Diving into the sea will only attract extra reinforcements, so it's best to travel by road.
As before, let's actively use area-of-effect weapons to whittle down the enemy when they are lined up in a straight line.
The Asylum's limiter can only be removed once.
Its appeal lies in its wide-area attack, so it's best to use it when you can hit as many enemies as possible.
Thoughts and screenshots included (spoiler alert)
*Please be aware if you haven't played the game yet.

I was surprised and amused to learn that, unlike most people who develop inventions that benefit society, all of them are illegal.

I couldn't help but laugh at the awful way he said, "They're just weaklings on our side."
Sure, they're just weaklings who are only useful as cannon fodder during combat, but shouldn't we use kinder words towards those who are risking their lives to protect the city?

It's a scene where it's like, "The rest is up to you!", but I couldn't help but laugh at how they completely cornered him and then biased his argument towards one option, saying, "Will you live as a weak-willed, boring high school student?"

The honesty in saying "at least on the surface" is great.

That's an absolutely terrible thing to say.

I laughed at his blunt remarks, but I wonder if anyone actually admires him.

Ban finally realized it.
It certainly gives off the most evil vibe. Even the clothing? It's so evilly perversely revealing.

I burst out laughing at the ominous name and visuals.
The model is a sea firefly, and its full name is Cherenkov Hikaru.
The double peace sign is cute.

I liked how the arrogant doctor acknowledged him as a great genius.
Although they have completely different personalities, it was nice to see them become friends because of their shared interest in engineering.

I thought the episode that explains why the "V" isn't used in the mecha beasts was a really great episode.
I think this is the kind of episode that will be released as a theatrical film several years later.
(Like Cucuruz Doan's Island)

I was sad because Yubari was the only one who didn't get any praise, and when I silently stared at Jake, he did offer some consolation.

Evil is oozing out of it.

I couldn't help but think, "At least give them generic names like Suzuki or Tanaka!"
It was hilarious calling him "Ordinary Person B" by his real name.

There were some humorous episodes, but also some rather melancholic and poignant ones, which sometimes left me confused about what emotions I should be feeling while reading.

This wild boar is seriously terrifying.
The eyes of wild animals are scary, aren't they?
Young Yuubari is so cute.

The scene where the director wants to leave Joji to die, and Ban, understanding his intentions, refuses to exchange hostages, was really cool.
And Krebs seems somewhat pleased by this.

I laughed at the line, "As you can see, he's a man who's perfectly safe from a copyright perspective..."

I thought the phrase "I accepted the challenge at full price" sounded cool, so I took a screenshot.

I found Ban's accurate observation that "My grandpa doesn't have any decent social connections!" and Rockhyde's inner monologue quite amusing.

That concludes the first part.
I'm curious to see how the story will unfold from here.
