Since I recently bought a new computer, I'm in the process of rearranging the layout around it.
Among the items I purchased, I'd like to introduce the keyboard slider that I bought first.
The product name on Amazon is "Sanwa Direct Keyboard Slider, Add-on, Desk Clamp, Full Keyboard and Mouse Storage Compatible, 70cm Wide, 100-KB003".
What is a keyboard slider?

A keyboard slider, as shown in the image above, is a keyboard holder that attaches to a desk and resembles a drawer.
There appear to be several types of mounting methods, but the image above shows a clamp-type add-on.
One use case is to remove the keyboard from your desk, freeing up space for documents and other items.
Furthermore, simply removing the keyboard makes the desk look neater, so I think it's also useful if aesthetics are a priority.
Why did you want it?
Typically, the main uses are those described in the previous section.
In my case, when I sit back in my chair to use my computer, the keyboard is out of reach if it's on the desk.
By attaching a keyboard slider, you can bring the keyboard closer to your body.
Additionally, sitting deeply in your chair increases the distance between your eyes and the display, and may also improve a hunched posture.
For these reasons, I thought I might give it a try.
Reasons for choosing this product
First of all, the price was reasonable, and it didn't look cheap at all, which was a big plus.
Buying something unusable just because it's cheap isn't very useful, so I chose based on a balance between price and reviews.
Another attractive feature was how easy it was to install.
It seems like it could be used on a variety of desks, as it can be securely clamped and attached to desks with a thickness of 15mm to 40mm.
Regarding the width, there were options of 50cm and 70cm, but since I also wanted to place my mouse on it, I chose the 70cm one.
My impressions after actually using it

I'm fairly satisfied with my purchase.
If the desk were a little lower, it might have interfered with my legs, but it was just about okay.
If that happens, all you have to do is lower the chair and the monitor.
For now, I have succeeded in achieving my initial goal: getting closer to a position where I can type on the keyboard while leaning back comfortably in my chair.
しかし、完全にもたれ込んだままキーボードを打とうとすると、完璧なブラインドタッチが要求されます。
Actually, I've been glancing at my hands while typing, but I can't see my hands if I lean back.
Therefore, I have now started practicing proper typing.
In any case, I'm now able to move my eyes away from the monitor more than before, so I think I can enjoy using my computer in a posture that's easier on my eyes.
summary
Keyboard sliders are not recommended for everyone.
However, it could be a viable option for those who want to free up desk space or those who want to take their eyes off the monitor.
If you're interested, it might be worth considering.
