Kimi ga Shine Chapter 2 Part 2 | Synopsis, Characters, and Spoiler Analysis

キミガシネ -多数決デスゲーム-(2章前編)ネタバレ無し感想 game
This post can be read in about 8 minutes.

This article is about the free game "Kimi ga Shine" which is available on RPG Atsumaru, which I've mentioned before.
The second part of Chapter 2 has just been released, so I immediately started playing it.
The completion time is 2 hours and 20 minutes, which isn't particularly long.
Even if you collect all the endings based on your final choices, the game time will only increase by about 10 minutes if you save properly.

Even paragraphs that don't contain spoilers may contain spoilers up to the first part of Chapter 2, so please be careful.

If you haven't played it yet, please click the link below to go to the introduction article for Chapter 1, or just go ahead and play it.

Points to note during this playthrough

Chapter 2, Part 2 begins with a recap of what has happened so far.
In the synopsis, there's a section where you have to choose who died.
At the end of the first part of Chapter 2, the person who dies will change depending on your choice, so here you choose who dies.
To be honest, the main storyline doesn't change, but there's information that can only be found in one of the routes, so if you have the time, it's a good idea to play both.

Also, there are several mini-games during the game where you have to move the mouse while repeatedly clicking the left mouse button.
There are several sections that are quite difficult to clear, so if you're having trouble with a mouse, you might want to consider using your smartphone.

Review (contains spoilers)

Each time I play, I discover unique features, which makes it interesting.
Last time, the chapter was like a collection of mini-games, and there were also special parameters such as illusion concentration and medals.
This time, there are few special elements; at most, there's a clicker game.
There are scenes where the abilities of the accompanying characters are used to reveal suspicious areas on the screen, but it's nothing particularly special.

Regarding the initial choice of whether Alice or Reco died, it seemed that the main storyline wouldn't change regardless of which option was chosen.
However, only if Alice is still alive will it be revealed that the man's data on Kai's computer is "Hiyori Sou".
Alice said, "He's the man I killed," but what does that mean?
Either way, the fact that Sou is an imposter will be revealed during the main game, so it might not be such a big deal.

This chapter also gradually revealed various things I had been curious about, such as Keiji's past trauma, Kai's background, and Sou's true identity.

The main game, much like Ace Attorney or Danganronpa, had twists and turns one after another, and the process of growing suspicion and distrust was truly fascinating.
This time, in particular, the "CO" calls, reminiscent of the Werewolf game, were heard at key moments, which alone made the game incredibly exciting.
And it was Keiji who provided the title's explanation in Chapter 2.
"You should die, Sou."
He has a rather evil expression, which is cool.
Ultimately, the decision of who dies was left to Sarah, but this episode really highlighted how cool Cage is.
And the next three chapters seem to be the final chapters, leading to an unprecedented cliffhanger before the ending.

There were two possible endings that led to the next chapter: either Kanna dies, or Sou dies, or (Nao and Sou both survive).

Choosing to kill Kanna results in a very unpleasant ending, leaving Sou furious.
It looks like the final chapter will also have a heavy and depressing development, as they try to modify Joe's artificial intelligence to attack Sarah's mind.

On the other hand, in the ending where Sou dies, he dies in a beautiful state, so this is a more emotionally lighter ending.

Before he dies, he leaves behind something that soothes Sarah's heart, such as reviving Joe's artificial intelligence.
However, the fact that Sou is dead in the next and final chapter might have some drawbacks.
Personally, I think that in death game stories, it's more exciting if a villain like Saw survives until the very end, so I might prefer an ending where he does survive.

The ending where only Nao and I survived was honestly heartbreaking because it meant everyone else died.
However, I was honestly drawn to Nao's devilish whispers at the last minute and her Madonna-like smile after she survived.
In fact, even if he had chosen to accept Nao's temptation in that situation, he might not have been blamed.
However, it seems likely that you'll regret it for the rest of your life, literally until the day you die...

Analysis (spoilers)

I think the answer will become clear once the final chapter is released, so there might not be any need to speculate now, but I'd like to jot down some things that are on my mind.

- A description that seems to loop
As seen at the beginning of the second half of Chapter 2, there was a scene in Sou's dreamlike memories that suggested an alternate timeline.
Ultimately, this series of scenes is a dream that Sou is having, but it's not just a dream; it might be remnants of memories or something similar.
The scenario in which Sou dies while Professor Mishima is still alive is unprecedented in what has been revealed so far, and it suggests that these kinds of death games are repeated many times.

Dolls and artificial intelligence
If death games are repeated over and over, and the participants are (almost) the same people, what does this mean?
Humans cannot come back to life after they have died.
This raises the possibility that the living members are actually elaborately crafted dolls.

In the second half of Chapter 2, a room was shown where dolls made to look exactly like the participants were stored.
And now, artificial intelligence tailored to each individual is also emerging.
Perhaps this doll and artificial intelligence are combined to revive the character, and the death game is repeated over and over again, with the character's memory being erased each time.
It is hinted that everyone except Sarah vaguely remembers the person who appears on Kai's computer (the man wearing the same scarf as Sou).
Since Sarah doesn't seem to remember, if Sarah is also a doll, then this Sarah might be a new version created from scratch.

Who is the person whose data was deleted and then reappeared?
Who exactly is "Hiyori Hayate," the man who appeared on Kai's computer?
If we believe Kai's words, the organization deletes data only when the person who deleted it has died.
However, the fact that it was restored means that it was either brought back to life or there are plans to bring it back to life.
Since it's impossible for an ordinary human to come back to life, if she did come back to life, it's likely she was resurrected as a doll.

Why does Sarah have such a high win rate?
Judging from the list of participants in the death game, Sarah has the highest chance of winning.
Compared to Q-taro and Keiji, who are simply physically well-built, there must be some special reason why he's so much better.
父親が主催者側っぽいことや、ガシューがサラの身柄を移動させたりと、何やら贔屓されている感があります。
Since Gashu says that "Nao doesn't deserve to be a winner," it seems that Sarah has something that Nao doesn't.

For now, the only things that come to mind are a charismatic personality that attracts others, and a mental fortitude that allows one to recover even in the face of despair.
I suspect these traits weren't acquired naturally, but rather were a result of being raised that way.

What is the purpose of this death game?
It seems they're doing this not for fun or entertainment, but as part of the organization's "mission."
If it's not a game, then what is it?

Those who survive this death game are the ones with the highest survival skills in the "majority-rule death game" that unfolds.
I get the feeling that the governing body is trying to create a competition to see what kind of personality has the highest survival potential.
When we talk about survival skills, we're not just referring to simple life-or-death survival abilities, but also to people who excel in other areas, such as the ability to gain empathy and support from others.

On the other hand, judging from the interactions between Hannahkie and Noel, it appears that they, too, are repeatedly conducting research and experiments to create humans from dolls.
Perhaps the organization is trying to create superior individuals by using a death game to pit people with outstanding personalities against each other, essentially turning puppets into real people.
Alternatively, those two attempts may be part of the same research trend.

So why is it necessary to create such exceptional individuals?
In this work, as indicated by the subtitle "Majority Rule Death Game," the word "majority rule" is a key theme.
And in the main game of this work, the final decision is made by "majority rule" through voting.

In our society, no matter how talented an individual may be, if they make enemies of the majority of people, it's all for naught.
Conversely, if you can gain the support of a large number of people, you can win by majority vote.
This organization seems to define "excellent person" as "someone who can win by majority vote," and is trying to create excellent people who can win by majority vote.
I don't know what they're trying to achieve with that.
There may be an imminent crisis in the outside world, where there are no talented people, and the world will be destroyed unless we produce outstanding leaders.

I think these things will be revealed in the final chapter, so for now I've just freely thought about all sorts of things, both true and false.
