My impressions of placing two TVs side-by-side in the living room (using them in the same room)

リビングにテレビ2台を並べて置いてみた感想(同じ部屋で運用) life

Preface

The television currently in our living room was a prize we received in a bingo game a long time ago.
Although it was a gift, it has lasted a long time and hasn't broken down to this day, but there was one thing I found inconvenient.
The problem is that when you record a TV program, you can only watch the channel that you're recording.
While it's sufficient for the purpose of recording programs that you can't watch at certain times, it prevents you from watching other programs at the same time you're recording them.
This is what's known as a single-tuner design.

I vaguely felt it was inconvenient, but it wasn't fatally inconvenient, so I continued using it as usual.
However, since TV prices have come down considerably recently, I decided to buy one.

Reasons for purchase

One of the reasons I decided to buy it is, as mentioned earlier, that it's more convenient to be able to record programs that are airing at the same time.
Up until now, when there were two TV shows I wanted to watch at the same time, I would have to skip one of them.
I could manage without it, but I wanted to eliminate as many inconveniences as possible that I had to put up with in my daily life.

The second reason is that I've been watching videos online more frequently using my Fire TV Stick.
Simply put, the Fire TV Stick is a device that plugs into your TV's HDMI port, essentially turning your TV into a tablet.
I've been using this a lot more to watch baseball games on DAZN, YouTube videos, and Amazon Prime videos.
Therefore, I wanted to try out the idea of dedicating my current TV to a Fire TV Stick, as I thought it might be quite convenient.

Until now, when children wanted to watch child-friendly videos on YouTube, parents had no choice but to refrain.
However, having another TV means we can let our kids watch videos while we watch our favorite shows.
Furthermore, some believe that if you purchase a home console in the future, you could also use it as a TV for gaming.

Purchased TV

The TV I purchased is the "Panasonic 32-inch LCD TV Viera TH-32F300 High Definition 2018 Model".
The price on Amazon as of August 5, 2019 was 35,800 yen.

The selection criteria for this purchase were:My three requirements were: it had to have dual tuners, it had to be able to be placed side-by-side with the TV on the stand, and it had to be from different manufacturers.
I thought any of them would be fine as long as they met those requirements and were reasonably priced.

The TV I'm currently using is a SHARP AQUOS.
If I were to get the same model and manufacturer, there was a possibility that both TVs side-by-side would react when I used the remote control, so I wanted to avoid that.
Even though the manufacturers were different, there was a possibility that the remote control specifications were the same, but I chose them hoping that wasn't the case.

My impressions after actually installing it

This is what it looks like when actually placed in the scene.
The floor is messy, so I've awkwardly avoided showing the bottom while taking the picture.

Personally, I don't think that the bigger the TV screen, the better.
I believe the ideal screen size is one that fits comfortably within the field of vision and is large enough to be viewed without moving your head or eyeballs.
My old TV was supposed to be 32 inches, so I bought a new TV of a similar size.
After lining them up, I found they were roughly the same size, which I think is pretty good.

Regarding remote control operation, I definitely feel that the newer models are more responsive and comfortable to use.
On older televisions, the cursor movement was slow, even when displaying the program guide or selecting to play recorded programs.
The new TV has a very responsive remote control, which is an unexpected and pleasant bonus.

To be honest, if you ask me if you need two TVs in the same room, I would say no.
However, when buying a new TV, instead of simply throwing away the old one, I think it was a pretty good idea to make good use of it.

When I was a child, we would fight over who got to watch the TV channel if there was something we wanted to see.
Now that I'm an adult, I can pretty much do whatever I want to try, which I find really enjoyable.
