This is a "watching game" submitted to "VIPRPG 2021 Summer Battle".
I started playing it after seeing some reviews posted on Twitter.
I was particularly intrigued by the title, "Why Did Shaw Challenge God?", which sounds like a translated foreign film title and sounds cool.
The completion time was approximately 3 hours.
Game Overview (No Spoilers)
"PRECIOUS -Why Did Sho Challenge God-" is a remake of "PRECIOUS ~Things to Protect~," which was unveiled at "VIPRPG 2007 Summer Festival."

The story begins with a young man, killed by the god of destruction Ares, being reincarnated in another world.
I can't recall the events or memories up until now, but the only thing that vaguely remains in my mind is the name "Sho" (meaning "sideshow") that I was given when I was reincarnated.

When Sho awakens in the forest, he encounters a monster girl named Harnas and the Zanninnin who is attacking her.
Unable to tolerate evil beings, Shou engages in battle with Zanninnin and saves Harnas.
Sho manages to repel the attack, but somehow loses consciousness and is taken to the Demon King's castle.

Those who lived in the Demon King's castle were literally all fools, but they were all people who lived honestly to themselves, unlike Shou who tried to be "a being of justice."
Shaw interacts with them, sometimes even clashing blades with them, and is gradually influenced by them.

Meanwhile, it is revealed that Ares, the god of destruction who once killed Shou, has also come to the same world.
The battle between the mysterious organization cooperating with Ares and the Demon King's castle is quite a spectacle.
The fight scenes in this film prioritize speed, and the action sequences are so captivating you won't be able to take your eyes off them.

What did Shou gain from his life in the Demon Lord's castle after his reincarnation?
And will Sho be able to defeat Ares, the opponent who once defeated him?
This film is about Shaw, who was dead, and his own生To obtainshowThat would be a reasonable conclusion.

Review (contains spoilers)
I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game until the very end.
(I haven't played the original "PRECIOUS ~Things to Protect~".)
Although it is an isekai (another world reincarnation) story, it is not a typical story where the protagonist is invincible.
Even after being reincarnated, I wasn't the strongest, and even after losing my memories, I couldn't escape the karmic ties of the past.

I think this film depicts the protagonist, Sho, struggling but eventually finding a new life for himself.
Shou, who was raised to defeat the God of Destruction Ares, tries to fulfill that role even after being reincarnated and losing his memories.
However, that role was not something they themselves desired, but rather a role given to them during the process of being raised.

Dragonus sees through the fact that he's fighting for a purpose that's not his own, and tells him, "Your fighting style isn't alive."
As Sho observes those living freely and without restraint in the Demon King's castle, he gradually begins to be influenced by them.
The members of the Demon King's castle may seem like a bunch of idiots, but that's probably just how they appear because they're honestly doing what they want to do.

It didn't seem like they were acting foolishly without thinking; it looked like they were doing it with the determination to stick to their foolishness.

I think Sho gradually changed because he experienced the bitterness of defeat through his battles against Splendid and Black Thunder.
Considering that in the beginning he fought as a justice-enforcing machine, operating under the principle that "fighting = killing bad guys," this is a significant change.

I imagine that Sho originally enjoyed fighting itself.
Even if her adoptive parents had trained her in combat techniques for a specific purpose, she seemed to be having a lot of fun imbuing the balls with magic and executing quick-witted attacks.
The reason why Sho challenges God changes between the opening and the ending.
In the opening scene, the character is simply taking on the role because it's been assigned to them, whereas in the final scene, the reason is an honest feeling that has blossomed within them (probably the simple feeling of regret at losing).

The developments around this point were exciting, and I felt that the fight with Alex was the most thrilling part.
I like works where there are tons of characters stronger than the protagonist.

The scene near the end where Shaw is asked by Harnas why he challenged God and he answers felt a little abrupt.
When Harnas first appeared, she certainly seemed to be in a position that made you think she might become the heroine.
However, opportunities for Harnas and Shaw to interact became less frequent after that, while the presence of the other characters grew increasingly prominent.

Given that his relationship with Harnas wasn't particularly strong yet, Shaw's response to Harnas came across as a bit of a pretentious, superficial attempt to impress him.
Now, that's enough about the story; let's move on to my thoughts on the battle animations.
The fight scenes in this game are quite fast-paced and energetic.
There are parts of the battle that are difficult to understand at first glance.
However, I think it was a good decision not to insert explanatory lines every time, as it would have disrupted the pacing.
The battle animations, which reflected the characters' individual personalities, were enjoyable to watch and sparked the imagination.

In particular, the fight between Musha and the fake Musha was interesting to watch because, unlike the other battles which were mostly "dynamic," it depicted a "static" battle.
As for the gags, each character seemed to have their own signature jokes, which made it enjoyable and reassuring.
I burst out laughing when, in the early part of the story, while Shou was being given a tour of the Demon King's castle, the Minotaur kept following him around, spouting various variations of paranoid delusions.

I suspect the story about Splendido paying with SpPay is also a lie, but it's amusing to see it becoming a accepted fact without his knowledge.
Since it's a game that takes about three hours to play, it's a bit long to play through in one go.
However, I felt it was a work that was so interesting that I was completely engrossed in it.
