Unlike professional or high school baseball, amateur baseball involves players of all skill levels.
Therefore, amateur baseball has its own set of rules and customs, many of which are incompatible with those of professional baseball.
This time, I'd like to explain each position for beginners in amateur baseball.
Rather than focusing on winning or losing, I will prioritize writing about making the match a success.
A collection of articles on batting, fielding, and base running tips for beginners in amateur baseball.

pitcher
It's an important position,If a pitcher has enough control to avoid giving up walks, the game can actually be played by anyone.
The distance from the pitcher's mound to the catcher is surprisingly far, so complete beginners should avoid this.
This job is best suited for someone who prioritizes control over velocity and has the mental fortitude to not get discouraged even if they make an error.
catcher
It's one of the most important positions.
If you keep dropping your pitches, it disrupts the tempo, and if you have a weak arm, base stealing will be a breeze.
It's not a comfortable position, and the mitts are actually quite heavy.
If we only have one experienced player, I'd prefer them to play catcher.
When a pitcher is consistently giving up bounces and walks, there's no more demanding position than this.
First baseman
It's an important position, but it's about the third most important after shortstop and third baseman.
The ability to reliably catch thrown balls is required.
In particular, we'd like someone who can catch throws that bounce once or short of a bounce.
For people with a large build, it might be easier to throw at them as a target, so it could be said that this is a suitable technique.
second baseman
While it is an important position in principle, its importance is not high at the level assumed in this article.
The distance to first base is short, so anyone who can stop the batted ball with their body and throw it will be fine.
This position is suitable for people with weak shoulders or women.
However, a certain level of understanding of baseball plays is required, as it involves things like covering the bases during double plays and stolen base attempts.
third baseman
It's the third most important position after catcher and pitcher.
In amateur baseball, where there are many slow ground balls, there are many fielding opportunities and the throwing distance is long, so it's best to place skilled players in that position.
Otherwise, you'll never get an out.
This position is best suited for individuals with strong fundamental baseball skills, such as catching ability and arm strength.
Since it doesn't involve much coordination, you could say it's an easy position depending on how you look at it.
shortstop
Like third base, it's an important position.
Regardless of the type of batted ball, some kind of movement is necessary, and the ability to handle various types of batted balls is required.
The batted balls that come to him are not as extreme as those to a third baseman,There is more horizontal movement than vertical movement.
Since this is a crucial position in the infield, let's place skilled players there.
left fielder
In amateur baseball, left fielders tend to have more defensive opportunities than center fielders.
Therefore, it's best to place the most skilled outfielder in left field.
Let's assign players who can catch flies properly and who can communicate effectively and coordinate with the team.
center fielder
This position surprisingly sees a lot of straightforward ground balls.
There aren't many tricky hits, but line drives and fly balls hit straight at you can be difficult to judge the distance to, so it's best to have someone who can catch them on the bounce without them going over your head.
Additionally, since you'll be running to back up the left and right wing positions, this role is also suitable for people with good runners.
right fielder
Just like with the second baseman, you can manage even if you put someone who isn't very skilled in that position.
However, if the opposing team has many left-handed batters, things can get really difficult.
If you're putting beginners on the team, make sure they understand the following points about how to play.
- Covering first base when the shortstop or third baseman throws to first base.
- Covering the third baseman or shortstop when their throw goes astray during a double play.
- When the batter is right-handed, play shallow and be careful of fly balls behind second base and ground balls to right field.
- For difficult hits, field them safely as singles and avoid letting them go over your head for triples.
Director/Representative
Since there are ground reservations and payment procedures to be made, it would be best for people who can travel on weekdays.
Additionally, someone who can manage schedules and attendance, communicate necessary information properly, have thorough discussions with the opposing team, and is perhaps a little on the meticulous side would be ideal.
However, it's by no means an easy job, as it requires leadership skills to sometimes forcefully pull people together when opinions are divided.
Deciding how to utilize them is a real headache, and it might be difficult for someone who isn't self-sacrificing to succeed.
If you're on a team without cooperative members, you'll be in a tough position.
