草野球初心者向け 打撃のコツ これだけは知っておきたい! baseball
This post can be read in about 3 minutes.

Batting is very much a matter of individual skill, so it's quite difficult to "teach" it.
However, even within that, I think there are some fundamental principles that can be considered basic prerequisites.

「Tips for hitting the ball even as a beginner at a batting cageIn the article, I wrote about some tips that you can put into practice right away.

This time, I'd like to write about something that goes a step further than that.
Furthermore, I believe that hitting isn't just about the act of batting itself, but also encompasses a comprehensive approach that includes one's behavior at the plate.
I will try to avoid going into too much technical detail and instead focus on things that even beginners can easily implement.

Things you can do the day before the match

There's only so much a beginner can do right before a match.
First, if you have time to go to a batting cage,Practice hitting the ball at a speed that feels slightly fast, until you get used to it and can hit it without missing.
If you can hit a ground ball that rolls forward, that's a good result.
In amateur baseball, ground balls have a significantly higher chance of resulting in a safe call than fly balls.
(Because catching and throwing are required)
Another option is to buy a baseball bat.
If you buy a Beyond Max bat (a so-called "high-flying bat") that is lighter and easier to swing, you'll hit the ball harder, which should improve your performance.
If you're a beginner or have no prior baseball experience, a bat weighing around 680g to 740g should be manageable.

Things we can do on the day

Find out who the opposing pitcher is and watch their pitches intently.
Work backward from the throwing motion to determine the timing of your swing, and then adjust your timing accordingly.
If you have your own bat, it's also important to practice your swing.
Make sure you can visualize your swing in the batter's box just like you do in practice swings.
If you don't practice your swing enough, you won't be able to swing properly when you're suddenly at bat.
Make sure to keep your body warm.

Things you can do in the on-deck circle

Try swinging the bat in sync with the opposing pitcher's throwing motion.
Also, check whether their control is good and what their pitching speed is.
You don't need to worry too much about the finer details like curveballs yet.
If you haven't warmed up enough, make sure to do so here.

Things you can do at bat

For now, just swing it three times and come back.
Especially the first pitch, they'll throw it in the strike zone, so I'll aim for that.
If you miss that shot, it's important to think of the rest as just a bonus.
The most important thing for beginners is not just trying to hit the ball, but to swing through completely.
Even if it's just a few balls, you won't gain any experience unless you actually swing the bat.
If the score is 3 balls, it might be a good idea to wait one more ball.
However, once the count is 3 balls and 1 strike, swing with all your might.
Swing it hard, and once it rolls, run properly!
Even if you think it might be a foul, don't judge it yourself; just run without hesitation.
If you don't run, the catcher will try to make the ball fair and get the out.

Furthermore, running at full speed puts pressure and anxiety on the defense, increasing the chances of being safe.
