Utrant Chronicles (SRPG) Introduction, Impressions, and Strategy Notes

ユートラント戦記(SRPG)紹介・感想・攻略メモ game
This post can be read in about 30 minutes.

This is an article introducing the simulation RPG "The Chronicles of Utland" by Oistar Games.
This is a robust military chronicle game created using SRPG Studio.
You can experience the fun of SRPGs by training units and using them to conquer challenges.
This is an ambitious work that incorporates various systemic innovations not seen in other works.

My completion time on normal difficulty was approximately 20 hours.

Game Overview

The story begins with the sudden invasion of the peaceful nation of Santofil by the Kingdom of Ranar.
Santofil requested aid from neighboring countries, and the Holy Kingdom of Brifis was the first to respond, heading towards Santofil.

As Brifis's army is heading towards the castle to intercept Ranar's army, the scene shifts to the forest within Saint-Phile.

Nordis, a knight-in-training from Brifis, was out on a reconnaissance mission in the surrounding forest when he encountered Princess Lateria of Santofil being attacked by monsters. He rescued her along with his colleague Enerion and their captain, Naram.
This encounter would have a significant impact on the war that would engulf the entire continent.

There are three difficulty levels available.
The normal version is quite crispy, so if you want something with more bite, you might want to try the hard version.
In addition to difficulty levels, you can also choose between Normal Mode and Classic Mode, both of which allow you to save during stages.

While this game employs traditional SRPG rules such as the rock-paper-scissors system, we will introduce some unique systems that are rarely seen in other games.

In this game, you can move and take further actions after conversing with allies and enemies.
The game is designed to avoid disrupting the pace of the gameplay through conversations between allies.
Also, you can gain experience points by engaging in conversations, so be sure to do so actively.
(You can also gain experience points from conversation events at your base.)

In this game, if a parameter increases little when leveling up, a compensatory measure is taken where the growth rate of all parameters except movement speed is increased.
This means that even if your growth ends with 0 pins (no growth) when you level up, the expected value of future growth increases, which can make you feel optimistic.

In this game, the usage count for all weapons and staves is restored upon clearing a map.
Therefore, you can use even valuable weapons to their fullest potential without hesitation.

In this game, units are not permanently lost even if they are defeated during gameplay.
However, if a unit becomes injured, it can still be deployed, but its stats will be reduced (units in critical condition cannot be deployed).
In addition to being able to fully recover by clearing several maps, there is also a way to fully recover instantly, although there is a limit to the number of times it can be used.

Furthermore, upon game over, you can perform a "total annihilation" playthrough, which allows you to retry from the beginning of the map with your earned progress carried over.
This effectively means there's no need to worry about being cornered.

Incidentally, there are training grounds at key points in the scenario where you can earn unlimited experience points, so there's no particular need to repeatedly get wiped out just to earn them.
However, there is an upper limit to the level you can reach in the training area.

One of the special commands allows you to gather all units that are not currently acting around the protagonist.
After clearing out the approaching enemies, it's common to move everyone to the front lines where the next wave of enemies awaits.
In that case, moving a large number of units one by one is quite troublesome.
In such a situation, if you use this command after letting only the main character move ahead, you can make all the units that haven't acted yet follow immediately.

In SRPGs, large maps can be cumbersome to move units around, which can easily increase player stress.
I think this command helps to alleviate some of that stress.

As described above, various systems have been actively introduced in this game.
This game is designed with features that make it enjoyable for players, so I can recommend it even to people who have never played an SRPG before.
If you're interested, why not try the demo version first?

Review (no spoilers)

I completed the game on normal difficulty.
The difficulty level seemed relatively easy, making it a game where you could easily power up your favorite units and let them wreak havoc.
It was exhilarating and satisfying to see the units I had trained become strong enough to dominate the battlefield.
I will write about the good points and the points that concern me.

First, regarding the stage, I think it was full of diverse situations.
There were various scenarios, such as allies being divided, small units having to hold out, and going to help friendly forces.
However, broadly speaking, there are two patterns: intercepting attacking enemies or defeating waiting enemies. As your units grow stronger in the later stages of the game, you'll be able to use the same pattern to clear stages.
There were hardly any special maps like defense maps or escape maps; most of the maps were orthodox ones that could be completed calmly over several turns.

Overall, the maps are a bit large, which can be stressful because it takes time and effort to move your units.
However, as explained in the game overview section, there is a command to gather characters around Nordis, so the stress of movement is somewhat alleviated.
Ideally, it would be even more convenient if there was a command to have everyone move towards a set target location (though I know that's asking for too much).

The difficulty level is relatively easy.
You can gain plenty of experience points just by defeating enemies normally, and even lower-level enemies give you a decent amount of experience, so you'll level up quickly.
Furthermore, experience points can be earned through training grounds and retries after a total party wipe, making the resource of experience points virtually unlimited.
Therefore, I feel that the game is balanced in such a way that players can earn as much as they want, or they can naturally clear the game even without earning much.

As you can see, AI is used extensively for the graphics.
The graphic style differs slightly depending on the unit's gender and age, so you might find that jarring.
However, compared to default or free stock images, it's quite novel, and I definitely think it looks better.
For those accustomed to seeing AI-generated images on a regular basis, the artificial look of these images might be a concern.

I felt that their commitment to creating a unique world was quite high.
I thought the class riding an elephant was interesting because I had no idea what its parameters would be.
The class names were carefully chosen, with different pronunciations depending on the culture, which showed attention to detail.
I found it interesting how weapons, too, were subdivided in terms of names and performance depending on the culture.
However, from a gameplay perspective, it's difficult to imagine whether the weapon's range is 1 or 2, which can be a bit confusing.
(As long as the enemy is equipped with it, you can check the range just by hovering the cursor over it, so there's no problem.)

As for the story, my impression was that it was rather conventional, for better or for worse.
I think it's solidly made, without any gimmicks, allowing you to focus on the gameplay.

My overall impression is that this game is more suited to players who want to casually strengthen their units and crush their enemies, rather than those seeking a challenging experience.
I think this game is especially recommended for players who are looking for the exhilarating feeling of dominating the battlefield by using powerful weapons without hesitation.
I would recommend this game to players who are tired of difficult SRPGs, as it's a game they can enjoy without feeling stressed.
The game also features plenty of replayability, so you can enjoy using units you didn't use in previous playthroughs.
Players seeking a truly challenging simulation may find it unsatisfying unless they impose restrictions on themselves, so be aware of this.

Strategy Notes - Normal Mode (Spoiler Warning)

*I will try to include the background transitions on the title screen whenever I notice them.

Chapter 1: The Princess of the Land of Peace

There are quite a few enemies right from the start, so it's dangerous for Nordis to charge in alone.
Let's simply attack the enemy in front of us, wait for reinforcements from our allies, and then launch our offensive.

Chapter 2 Invaders

The treasure chest to the north contains a Seed of Speed.
After intercepting the first group of enemies that charge in, it would be a good idea to head north to retrieve your supplies.
If you get injured, wait around Lateria and let it heal.
The bandits are defensive, so you can safely lure them in by gradually entering their attack range and defeating them there.

Chapter 3: The Fall of the Saint-Philippe

This map features extensive glimpses of powerful enemy forces.
From our perspective, there's no problem as long as we advance towards our destination.

Serge and Liber, who appear from the upper right, will follow Nordis even if you leave them alone, but they won't gain experience points while they're allies, so it's best to go and meet them yourself.
Also, they will initiate conversations with you even if you don't speak to them first.
Even if you ignore it, they'll join your party when you clear the game.

Visiting the village in the lower left will reward you with steel armor (defense +2).

The experience points Naram had gained will not go to waste.
This is a thoughtful detail rarely seen in other works.

Chapter 4: Ricogen Breakthrough

On the third turn, a large number of axe infantry will appear.
Try not to spread your forces too far apart.

Roth can be persuaded by Lateria, and Guilherme by Mariel.
(You can persuade both Roth and Guillermo.)
Since they won't take any action, persuading them shouldn't be difficult.

While not a clear condition, Mulder, who is guarding the castle in the lower left, has high attack power.
It would be a good idea to have a healer and attack with a sword.
If you anticipate being attacked, it's safer to use the pull-back command to retreat.

Village in the left center: Espada (Sword)
Shop's featured items: Axebuster, Seed of Life Force

Chapter 5: Crossing the Plains

If you want to shorten the number of turns, it's a good idea to split your forces into those heading towards the desert and those heading towards the fort.
Anya, who is fleeing to this side, will join your party after you talk to Nordis.

Be careful when luring one of the Desert Lizardmen around the bone; if you lure them all in, they will all come after you.

The cavalry that emerge from the fort after you defeat the scouts will appear as reinforcements and act immediately, so it's best not to get too close.
It's safest to advance with everyone, venturing slightly into the desert, and then intercept them near the edge.
While its attack power isn't high, units with low defense are vulnerable to wave attacks after being moved again.

Ernesto doesn't have automatic regeneration, but his high defense allows you to earn a decent amount of HP by repeatedly attacking bosses.
Since units other than those with high attack power will deal zero damage, it might be a good idea to grind until your weapon breaks.

Shop's featured items: Falchion (sword), Bec de Corbin (axe with heavy armor effectiveness)
*An axe will be immediately useful, so you might want to buy one.
Treasure in the bone: Obtain an Estoc
Oasis Treasure: Garment of Life (Armor that increases maximum HP by +5)
The cave in the upper leftCastile's Bow

Chapter 6: Held's Sea Serpent

Since there are many enemies wielding axes, you should focus on forming a unit that can use swords.
Furthermore, because many battles take place in confined spaces, the number of soldiers that can be deployed to the front lines is limited.
You can get the job done by deploying plenty of units that can perform indirect attacks using bows or magic.
If you purchased the Axe Buster in Chapter 4, you can hit enemies without any problems even if you're a spear user.

The goblin in the bottom left is the only one equipped with a Sword Buster.
In addition to sword units, it would be a good idea to send units that include Serge, who is unaffected by the weapon triangle.
After that, turtles will appear along the nearby coast, so it's most efficient to head straight there to eliminate them.

Lina will appear near the starting position on turn 4.
Let's send Nordis over and have him talk to them.

The base of the tree in the lower left: Inherited Technique Scroll (Skill +2)

Chapter 7: The Demon Who Comes from Heaven

This map features a relentless onslaught of flying units from the sea.
In a rock-paper-scissors relationship, since all enemies wield spears, it's best to refrain from deploying units that can only attack with swords.
Flying units are very vulnerable to arrows, so it's a good idea to deploy plenty of units that can use bows.

The battle starts with the troops split into left and right halves, but since you'll be fighting together as a team, it's best to regroup on the upper deck and engage in combat there.
Giselle will join your party if you talk to her with Roy, but the timing of engaging her in combat can be tricky, so be careful with your positioning.

After a while, a Lesser Demon wielding dark magic will appear from the right.
Since being under concentrated fire is dangerous, try to eliminate approaching enemies one by one.
In some situations, you might want to take the lead with a bow and arrow to shoot down flying units.
After launching, using the pull-back or pull-in command to move it back will allow for safer and more efficient operation, so be sure to utilize this feature.
Once you defeat a certain number of enemies, the boss will retreat.

Shop's featured items: Mangosh (Sword, Defense +4), Alfaia (Intermediate Magic)

Chapter 8: National Borders

This map is cleared when Lateria and Helrudel have a conversation.
If your goal is to defeat Ammakan in the bottom left, avoid talking to anyone.

First, you will face enemy cavalry.
If you focus on using suicide weapons during combat, you can easily annihilate them.
For the next group of sorcerers, it's best to lure them in as close as possible before taking them down all at once with your entire army.
It's safer to weaken Geni with Helrudel before defeating him.

There's no problem collecting the treasure chest in the upper right corner; you can do it slowly after defeating Geni's troops.
The red gem held by the elephant rider near the boss Ammakan should be stolen by one of the thief sisters.

Shop's featured itemsCastile's Lance, Alsander
The town in the lower rightVisiting Herrudel will earn you 10,000 gold.

Chapter 9 Hundred Miles

The stage is divided into three sections: one for the three people on the north side and the other for the main body on the south side.
Enemy reinforcements will appear from the north, so we'll need to send Nordis in somewhat aggressively and try to get him to join the main force as soon as possible.

Let's have the troops on the south side advance north as soon as possible as well.
Ghosts take half damage from physical attacks, so deal with them using magic or their weakness, the bow.
Imran is quite a formidable opponent, so let's focus our attack on Helurdel.

On turn 7, five cavalry units will appear from the northern edge of the map.
If you dawdle against the skeletons, you'll be pursued, so move quickly.
The mission is cleared by having Nordis and Helrudel talk, but you'll want to steal the Red Gem from the enemy reinforcement, Lia.

The post town in the upper rightPaying 3000G will add the priest Bezeld to your party.
Shop's featured items: Filangi (well-balanced sword), Hindi (hunting bow)
Mariel and Lateria have a conversation.: Obtained Ajakati (sword)

Chapter 10: The Battle of Sindhu River

This map features a bridge fortified with three different weapon types as the main battlefield.
Prepare at least one unit that can use a weapon advantageous to each enemy and place them at the front.
Alternatively, if you have Buster-type equipment that reverses the rock-paper-scissors dynamic, that unit would also work.
If you position Lateria, Nafisa, and Bezeld as healers, you can fight with peace of mind.

The Sword Saint Divia awaits you on the far right bridge.
While they are dangerous opponents with high speed and critical hit rates, you can mitigate the damage from their critical hits by using characters with high defensive capabilities, such as Lieber.
On other bridges, be careful, as if one bridge is blocked, enemies may head towards another bridge.
Enemy reinforcements will continuously appear from the fort on the other side of the bridge.
It would be difficult to engage them in an open area, so I think it would be better to intercept them on the bridge.

Boss Howder is a tough opponent, so it's best to fight him with a weapon that can deal critical damage.

Shop's featured items: Tabarzin (axe), Limor's Staff (HP recovery, range 8)
Red flower at the top center of the mapWhite Gem (7500G)

Chapter 11: The Trembling Royal City

Ashta, who is approaching you, can be recruited by talking to him with Lateria or Nordis.
There are enemy soldiers positioned between you and Ashta, but they are not particularly dangerous, so there's no need to rush.

After that, let's intercept Kruger and his men on the sandbar before the bridge before proceeding.
On turn 8, a group of flying units will appear from the upper right.
Since there are many of them, be careful about the timing of your counterattack.
Since many of my allied units had undergone class changes by this point in the game, I felt this map wasn't particularly difficult.

Shop's featured items: Alfaia, Althunder, War God's Necklace (Accessory, Strength, Skill, Defense +1)
The red flower in the center: Blue Gem

Chapter 12: The Traitorous General

Since Enerion's forces above and Nordis's forces below are completely separated, they will each fight the enemy forces independently.
However, since we can use the narrowness of the bridge to our advantage and intercept them, I don't think it will be too difficult.
Enemy cavalry can be dangerous due to their ability to launch wave attacks after repositioning, so take defensive stances or equip weaker weapons to avoid being overwhelmed.

After eliminating all enemies, visit the town in the bottom right to complete the level.

Chapter 13: The Tyrant's Castle

This map involves advancing towards the center from three different directions.
By the 8th turn, the poisonous swamp will turn into a normal swamp, making it safe to pass through.
Until then, deal with the surrounding enemies while waiting for the turns to pass.
When Nordis visits a house near his starting location, the witch Lucia will join his party.

Be careful of Gema, who is positioned on the left; he will use Sylphid to attack from a distance.

Lower right bone: Weapon guidebook
Large bone in the inner swamp in the lower right center: Hero's Sword

Interlude at Sylvain Thiarier

・Training ground 1
This map can be attempted repeatedly at your base.
The level cap is 21 or lower, so you can train any units you want to raise.
You will only receive a Master Order upon your first clear.

Although the number of enemies is fixed, their placement is random.
Since units become injured when they are defeated, be careful, as deploying only the units you want to level up may lead to difficulties.

Chapter 14: The Saint of the Snowfield

First, let's prepare to talk to the swordsman Hugin in Lateria in order to recruit him as a companion.
Hugin will be moving towards you, so wait in a position where you can talk to him on the next turn.

Rosar will use his Sleep Staff from the right, but it will break after two uses, so you don't need to worry about it too much.
Elias, who has Absorb, doesn't have high accuracy, so he shouldn't pose much of a threat.

On turn 11, seven Dragon Knights will appear from the bottom right.
The enemy can jump over building obstacles, but they cannot jump over castle walls, so you can use that to your advantage to intercept them.

The yellow flower in the middleMaster Order

Chapter 15: The Dragon Mountain

This map features enemies that are mostly flying dragons.
Be aware that reinforcements will be continuously arriving.
The dragon's fire breath is treated as a magic attack and has a range of 1.
If your ally has decent magic defense, they can dodge even if they get hit a few times.
Since archery attacks are particularly effective, it's efficient to deploy several archers.

The road is narrow, so let's first aim to rendezvous with our allies in the lower right.
In a slightly open area, it becomes easier to intercept the attack.

The fire dragon Zilnitra is a formidable opponent, but it can be defeated by an ace pilot equipped with a weapon effective against dragons.

Destroyed checkpoint: Hero's Axe
The cave where the fire dragon Zilnitra wasRescue Staff, Golden Gem (sells for 20,000G)

Chapter 16: As a Father and as a Daughter

This map continues to have many enemy flying units.
Equipping archers with weapons effective against dragons will make battles considerably easier.
There's no particular reason to split into left and right flanks, so it's perfectly fine to advance with your troops concentrated on one side.
In that case, a clockwise route would be best, as it would allow you to smoothly reunite with Rion and the others.

On turn 6, Olga or Anya + Lyon will appear from the dead end in the upper right.
If you wait at the dead end at the very bottom, the rocky mountain will disappear, allowing you to proceed downwards.
The goal is to reach the town in the bottom right.
However, since you can also clear the stage by storming the castle, this is a good option if you have time and want to earn experience points.

On turn 8, six Dragoons will appear from the bottom right and six from the bottom left.
Reinforcements will continue to appear from the north, so be careful about when you engage in combat.
In any case, it's safer to intercept them at a point where there's a fort.

Central CaveMaster Order
Olga and Nordis have a conversation.: Obtain the Hero's Bow (It is unknown if the same applies to Anya)

Chapter 17: The Island of the Dead

This map's objective is to clear it within 25 turns.
The Wraiths that appear after a certain number of turns are resistant to physical attacks, and you'll be at a disadvantage unless you use light magic.
Since they appear in large numbers, proceed carefully to avoid being overwhelmed by a concentrated attack.
If we put Sisvein at the forefront, it should be able to hold them off almost unscathed.

The enemy's advance becomes most fierce when you cross the shallow waters, so don't rush due to the turn limit.
The boss isn't that strong, so it shouldn't take long.

The flower where the Alraune is waiting in the lower right corner of the mapMaster Order
Bones in the water north of the starting location: If you pick up the Hero's Spear, a Dragon Zombie will appear.

Chapter 18: The Tragedy of Perenore

You gain experience points by rescuing residents, but it's dangerous to be greedy and push too far ahead, so you should be prepared to give up to some extent.

Reizelun and Adeline appear in the north, but in my case, Reizelun was defeated by the enemy's special attack.
...However, for some reason, it was assumed that Adeline had been defeated, and they retreated.
I think the original plan was probably for Adeline to be defeated.

If you visit the hut in the northeast, you will receive the key to the drawbridge (I suspect you can only get it after Reizeln and Adeline have retreated).
If you fill up the item slots of the unit you are visiting, you can send it to the transport convoy.
If you have Nordis, who can use transport units, waiting near the drawbridge beforehand, you can lower the drawbridge smoothly.

Ethelda, who appears from the left side of the drawbridge, will join your party if you talk to her with Enerion, and you will receive Seven Stars (not cigarettes) as a gift.

After that, instead of forcing an attack, you should be able to avoid trouble by using the terrain around the drawbridge to your advantage and intercept them.

Chapter 18 Alternate Story: Justice Lies in the Heart *Available only on second playthrough and beyond

This is likely a map you can access after purchasing the perk of keeping Adeline alive, using a replay item.
In this case, Chapter 18 will be immediately cleared, and you will automatically proceed to this map.
Please note that it is impossible to progress in the first lap.

This is a unique map where the cave map and the outdoor map progress simultaneously.
Adeline and Reizelun are holding out outside, so let's escape to the outside through the exit in the upper right as soon as possible.

Cave bonfireWhite Jewel
treasure chestMaster Order

Since Ethelda will appear as reinforcements, it would be best to head towards the more distant side, towards Reizeln, to provide support.
The enemies on the left and right are only attacking slowly, so you should be able to withstand their attacks to some extent.

Once residents begin to evacuate, it would be a good idea to move your defensive line back to the area around the hole to intercept them.

After clearing the game, Reizeln and Adeline will join your party.
In this route, Reizeln does not appear as an enemy in Chapter 19, and in Chapter 20, a mysterious masked knight named Vargas appears instead of Reizeln.

Interlude: In the Holy City of Brifis

・Training ground 2
The level cap is 26.
You can get a Master Order as a reward for clearing it for the first time, so you should definitely try to clear it at least once.

Chapter 19: The Defense of Fort Glidden

This map involves defending an allied force fighting in a fort.
It takes quite a while to reach the fort, so if you have any well-trained flying units, it's a good idea to send them ahead.
From the north, dragoons led by Anselm appear as allied forces.
Therefore, the fort's northern defenses are temporarily strengthened, but they are quickly overwhelmed by enemy archers.
It's a good idea to send in flying units equipped with the Eye of God shield first to eliminate the enemy archers as a priority.

Enemy reinforcements will appear from the north-central direction on turn 8.
The time until you encounter the enemy is rather long, but be careful as you're in a position where Pietro's three meteors are likely to land.
These cavalrymen's magical attacks will barely damage the fort's gates, so you can ignore them until you've dealt with Leto and Braski.

Even if you talk to the Dark Knight Reizeln in Nordis, he won't (currently) join your party.
After talking to them, make sure you're prepared to defeat them quickly.

Treasure chest in the lake: Nidhogg (Rank S Bow) *Retrieve by having a flying unit carry the treasure key

These two look kind of alike, don't they? (At least in appearance)

Chapter 20: The Princess's Return

This map involves splitting your forces into two groups: one on the upper side to engage the enemy's main force, and the other two groups at the bottom.
The units below have long movement distances, so it would be a good idea to include cavalry and flying units.
The enemies at the bottom aren't very strong, but the bosses around the final castle are tough, so make sure to include at least one strong unit.

On the upper side, since it would be difficult to clash with a large enemy army in a wide grassland, let's deploy barricades in appropriate places to reduce the number of troops involved in combat.
The second wave of archers can be attacked from behind the fence by rear-guard units equipped with Pavis, giving you an advantage in battle.
However, the enemy's wave attacks due to repositioning are powerful, so you need to be careful not to get caught in a concentrated attack.

You will lose if you don't defeat Reizeln with Nordis, so it's a good idea to block off the open square in the fence with Nordis while you fight.

Defeating Emilia, who is positioned in the castle, will lower the enemy's morale, making it easier to defeat Raziel.
It's not a mandatory requirement, so you don't need to worry too much if your castle assault team doesn't arrive in time.
The surrounding wizards who possess Fenrir are not to be underestimated, so deal with them carefully.
In my case, I defeated Emilia with Enerion's Seven Stars.

The level cap is 31, and the first-time clear reward is the usual Master Order.
As a boss, you'll encounter General Lawrence, who is quite tough.

Chapter 21: The Knight of the Lake

Camilla will join your party if you talk to her in Nordis.
Approach them quickly from outside their reach and start talking to them as soon as possible.
At some point, the enemy's morale will rise and their stats will increase, so when that happens, it's best to retreat outside and wait for a while.
As turns pass, the enemy's stats will decrease again, so it's safer to wait until then before attacking the town.

Once you've defeated Orlandi, use the outside barricade to intercept Lantiano and his men.

Arena: Iron Mask
The town where Orlandi is waiting: 8000G

Chapter 22 Kamui King

We will divide our forces into three groups and advance from three different directions.
If you open the door in front of you, enemy heavy infantry will immediately come towards you on the next turn, so it's best to open the door only when you're ready.
As explained during the information gathering, it would be a good idea to eliminate some of the internal enemies from the outside.
If you're not confident in your fighting strength, one option is to have the units on the left and right merge with the main force at the bottom center along the outer perimeter, and then attack from the center with everyone.

If you break down even one door and enter the building, flying units will soon appear from the initial positions of each unit.
Since they can jump over friendly units, it's difficult to create a wall to intercept them.
It's best to send one strong unit ahead to take on the enemy.
Be careful, as two named characters, Veronica and Seraphina, will appear from the front.

Once you've repelled the flying troops, you can simply advance slowly through the castle without any further problems.
When fighting Zedit, surround him with plenty of support characters and then use Nordis.

Chapter 22 Side Story: The Mountain Where Snowflakes Fall *Available only on second playthrough and beyond

If you purchase a certain item related to Rion as a lap bonus, you will automatically enter this route.
It's possible that having Bezeld in your party is also a requirement (since he was involved in the scenario).

Vorpal Bunnies and Snow Bears don't attack directly, so they're not scary.
However, Vorpal Bunny has a high critical hit rate, so it might be dangerous to face it unless you use a unit with high defensive capabilities.
Yur is quite troublesome; he attacks with magic using Fenrir while flying, making him very dangerous.
Let's prioritize eliminating them.

The boss, the Ice Dragon, is a tough opponent, but you can still clear the game without fighting it if necessary.
You should be able to counter them if you prepare weapons that are effective against dragons.

If you need the Master Order, you should complete it at least once.

Chapter 23: The Stirrings of Darkness

The goal is to clear the level after 12 turns, but mummies will spawn somewhere on the map every turn.
Mummies aren't particularly strong, but they're troublesome because even if they take no damage, they have a certain chance of becoming confused.
Prepare multiple units that can use the Rest Wand so that you can provide immediate treatment.

Valuable items are buried at each location, so be sure to collect them before the turn limit is reached.

At this base, you can earn as much experience points as you want.
It's a good idea to properly train the units you plan to take to the final battle.

Each trial
If you select a unit with weapon level S for each attribute, you will receive a powerful, exclusive weapon.
Basically, you should be fine if you choose a unit that is your main force and doesn't have any particularly powerful weapons.

・Each defense
You can earn experience points by repeatedly challenging the defense maps of each country.
I've tried everything, but I think the Roygria defense is the most efficient.
The advantage of mummies is that their HP isn't very high, making it easy to engage and fight enemies quickly.
However, caution is needed regarding the confusion status effect.

Chapter 24: Valley of the Dead

There are many enemies positioned here, but with members that have been trained this far, you shouldn't have any trouble.
In narrow passages, you can use vanguard units to create a wall, and intercept incoming enemies in wider areas with fewer mountains; this should solve the problem.

Be careful when approaching the bone-shaped terrain on the map, as dragon zombies will spawn there.

The Greater Demons and Lesser Demons in the middle will all launch ranged attacks, so be careful to prevent units with low magic defense from being targeted by their concentrated attacks.

As you get closer at the end, a group of undead knights will appear.
Be careful not to let your guard down until just before you clear the game.

Final Chapter: The Undead King

This is the final map.
By defeating the three bosses, Necrodeath's defense and magic defense will decrease by 10 each, making it possible to fight him properly.
In Normal mode, you honestly don't need to defeat all three bosses to win, but let's just split up into three teams and proceed.
Since there are fewer enemies in the center, it might be a good idea to allocate more of your forces to the left and right sides.

The boss on the left is extremely dangerous because all of its minions are equipped with Hell gear.
It's best to ignore the surrounding enemies and focus all your attacks on the boss.

For any enemy, it's best to focus on units equipped with the Six Sacred Artifacts when engaging in battle.
Let's fight Necrodeath with Nordis's Flasniwell.

Post-game content

Clearing a stage earns you clear points, which you can use to purchase various bonuses when starting a new game.
Points accumulate each time you clear a stage, allowing you to purchase more bonuses by playing through the stages repeatedly.

In addition to powerful weapons, there are perks such as units that would normally die in the scenario surviving, certain units joining early in the game (with their levels adjusted according to the progress), and the ability to change Lateria's class.
I think this is an interesting bonus feature that allows you to play with a fresh perspective, different from the first playthrough.

Unit usage impressions (spoiler alert) *1st playthrough Normal

I will focus on the unit's performance in the final map, specifically describing the members used in that mission.

・Nordis

He grew incredibly strong, displaying a strength worthy of a protagonist.
My movement speed was initially lacking, but luckily it increased, and I was able to improve it further with accessories, so now it's in perfect condition.
The fact that he can only use a sword meant he had some limitations in ranged attacks, but that's a minor drawback.
I used the training dumbbells to lower my level once, so my actual level is 48.

Mariel

It felt similar to using Kate from Tear Saga; I kept feeling it was a bit underwhelming, but for some reason, I ended up using it until the very end.
I used it somewhat casually because I found value in its support aspects, such as logistics, procurement, and transportation.
Ultimately, we became a force capable of putting up a decent fight, so it turned out well in the end.

Lateria

I've been relying solely on a skill that slightly heals myself and those around me, but to be honest, I felt it wasn't enough.
However, after learning the "Inspire" skill at level 10, it became incredibly useful and undeniably became a regular in my team.
With the bonus for the second playthrough, it seems that you can attack from the beginning by changing classes, so I'm looking forward to seeing how the gameplay changes.

Enerion

Initially, it was an average, unremarkable unit, but once it was leveled up, it became an incredibly powerful unit with no weaknesses overall.
Unlike Nordis, its strengths lie in its ability to use spears and its ability to move again after being attacked.
Thanks to the elite training, my progress was rapid, so I used dumbbells for training.
The Seven Stars, his signature weapon, had relatively low power, but its rapid-fire rate made it highly effective at guaranteeing kills.
Aren't you stronger than Nordis?

Serge

As the first wizard to join the party, he played a vital role until the very end.
Having magic with a range of 1-2 is definitely very convenient.
It's not that his defense is weak, and he can generate his own HP with his skills, so I was surprised at how resilient he was to being hit.
While you can place a decent number of units in the front, the crucial magic power growth was rather lackluster, which unfortunately meant the firepower wasn't that great.

River

My initial armor gave me low movement speed, but after leveling up a bit, I removed the armor and restored my movement speed.
Overall, he grew remarkably fast, resulting in surprisingly quick and powerful stats for a heavy knight.
Equipping them with weapons with a range of 1-2 and placing them on the front lines made them a very useful unit that could effectively chip away at enemy health.
Many of the characters had skills that strengthened their defenses, so we rarely found ourselves in a difficult situation.

・Sorge

This is a swordsman in the Ogma slot.
While it might seem like it prioritizes strength and defense, its speed is quite high, and its technique isn't so low as to be a concern.
With Akatsuki's skills, he shows great tenacity and resilience.
I didn't train many axe users, so this unit, who could use axes, was valuable to me.

Nafisa

Since she was the first healer to join the team, I continued to use her without her ever dropping out of the starting lineup.
After changing her class, I did give her some offensive magic, but I mostly focused on healing.
If the only purpose is healing, then Ethelda, with her high mobility, might be more useful.

  Olga

I used it together with Anya until the very end.
Because her weapon level was high when she first appeared, she had a monopoly on the best bows.
I had been training a character with the intention of having someone who could pick locks, but in this game, lockpicking wasn't really necessary, so I probably didn't need to use them.
In the early stages of the game, this unit was the only one that could use the Steal ability, so it was very useful for stealing gems.

Anya

Although its growth rate was very high, Olga's growth wasn't bad either, so it wasn't until the very end that it completely overtook her.
Ultimately, since my weapon level didn't naturally reach S, I felt my weapons were somewhat lacking.
Nevertheless, with so many flying enemies in this game, there were plenty of opportunities for him to shine, making him a reliable archer.
The magic you can use after class change is fire, but your skill is ice slash.

   Giselle

I started training pilots because I thought they would have many opportunities to be useful.
It was weak at the beginning, but I persevered and nurtured it, and eventually it became quite tough.
The hit-and-run skill is interesting, but I wish there was a simpler skill that allowed for repositioning.
The blinding skill was surprisingly effective; activating it during an attack often allowed me to avoid counterattacks.

Fritz

This is the second pilot.
Since Leon's low HP was a major drawback, Fritz became the regular member of the team.
There weren't many axe users, so I wish I could have used an axe.
I wish he had the skill to move again.
While its speed is slightly lacking, its high strength and the Musou Combo skill compensate for this.

・Sisvein

Because there were many stages where the unit had to be split up, this healer character gradually became a regular member of the team.
Like Nafisa, I focused on healing, so I have no particular complaints.
I think skills like charisma and the blessing that allows for self-healing were very useful.

・Reiseln

He was hired because he was an excellent cavalryman at the time and could be an immediate asset.
The downside is that the character's HP drops quickly due to the dark skills, but I think this can be compensated for by equipping them with a healing bracelet.
Since I hadn't trained any cavalry units other than Enerion, his ability to move again made him very useful.

・Lulu

Because there were hints that it would grow incredibly fast, I used the defense map to raise it.
His magical power was exceptionally high, making him quite powerful.
However, due to concerns about his skills and defense, he cannot be considered invincible.
Since I equipped it with an Ambush Ring, it could use Dawnlight preemptively when its HP was low, allowing it to survive relatively well.

Eliza

They're a support unit that joins the party towards the very end.
I was drawn to its special weapon that allows for two attacks, so I deployed it.
Towards the end of the battle, units wielding the Six Sacred Artifacts were at the center of combat, so their role was limited.
His abilities are somewhat inferior compared to those of a seasoned wizard.

Unit usage impressions (spoiler alert) *Second playthrough on Hard mode

For my second playthrough, I started with the restriction of using as many units as possible that I didn't use in the first playthrough.
Since units that join your party later in the scenario are difficult to use effectively, I started by purchasing bonus items to recruit them as early as possible.
The following units were purchased:

You probably didn't need to buy units that you joined early in the game.
Although I purchased Elena, she was too weak and difficult to use in the early stages of the game, so I decided not to include her in my regular team.

Below, I will introduce my impressions of using the units that I deployed in the final map.

Lateria

I changed her class to Zodiac early on, which was useful because it allowed her to function as a magic attacker instead of just an adjacent healer.
Luckily, my weapon level reached S relatively quickly, allowing me to use ☆Azathoth early on, which proved to be extremely useful as a boss killer.
Azathoth's range of 1-3 was very convenient, and with +6 magic power, it was powerful and strong.
He had become an incredibly reliable attacker, so it was frustrating that his actions were limited to either encouragement or other options.
I used the dumbbells for training on Nordis and Lateria.

Lucas

I decided not to use Lieber, and since I needed a heavy infantryman, I added him as a bonus.
With excellent parameters for a tank role, he effectively filled the void left by Lieber.
He's a true ace, capable of effectively whittling down the enemy even when sent in alone.
I was happy that my diligence skills allowed me to grow relatively quickly.
However, since she is a sword-wielding unit, she is inferior to Lieber in that she has limited means of indirect attacks.

Ethelda

I recruited them early on using a bonus.
Being able to move again and having high mobility, she was superior to Nafisa as a healer.
Their growth rate is quite excellent, and after class change, they can also be effective as an attacker.
It's convenient because you can attack by moving forward and then retreat by attacking again.

Roy

Last time, the three sisters took over the role of the bow attacker, so I decided to use her this time.
Its performance is average, and it was raised with conscious effort rather than growing naturally.
If you manage to activate the "counter-attack" skill correctly, you can sometimes defeat enemies in one go with rapid-fire skills.
After leveling up sufficiently, they became a fairly reliable presence.

・Kilia

I recruited them early on using a bonus.
At lower levels, the damage output is low, so it was difficult to level them up.
Since I could deal extra damage to flying units with the Leaf Caliber, I was able to compensate to some extent for the lack of bow units.
I boosted my magic power several times with seeds, but once I started to get enough firepower, I could really rely on it.

Joshua

I recruited them early on using a bonus.
Since it's a mounted unit, the ability to move again after being mounted was very useful in the early stages of the game.
Since he wasn't particularly outstanding in terms of ability, I had him work as part of a trio with Hans Killia.
My magic defense increased quite a bit, so I was able to fight without worrying about magic attacks.

Hans

I recruited Joshua early on as a bonus character.
Unlike my partner, his defensive skills improved significantly, so I could confidently send him on the offensive as the vanguard.
Against tough enemies, the pincer attack, activated by fighting Joshua and the enemy from both sides, is very powerful.
However, my impression is that there were limited situations in which it could be used.

Rohto

It has decent strength, but its speed doesn't improve much, so it was difficult to raise.
We were often pursued by the enemy.
As can be seen from the number of losses, it seems he was frequently injured.

 ・ Guillermo

Compared to Roth, his defensive abilities improved somewhat, so I used him in a role similar to a secondary defensive wall.
He performed reasonably well, but he wasn't quite at the level of a star player.
He, like his partner, was frequently injured.

Lina

When he joined the team, his skill, speed, and defense were low, making it difficult to develop him.
Even after raising them, they weren't fortunate enough to acquire powerful weapons, resulting in a rather underwhelming performance.

Raven

Compared to other axe users, his speed growth was good, and he could also perform follow-up attacks, so I got the impression that he was fairly strong.
Although it couldn't change classes, it was still useful as it grew to have high parameters even without doing so.
While not quite an ace unit, I think it was among the stronger units compared to others.

Bezeld

This is the second healer slot.
I didn't use him in the first playthrough, so I decided to include him this time.
Because my magic power is low, the amount of healing I get from spells like Heal and Limorl is a little disappointing.

Adeline

I finally joined the party in the alternate timeline where I survive.
To be honest, I think Reizeln is stronger and easier to use.
However, since I had gone to the trouble of recruiting him, I gave him a sacred weapon and made him do his best to contribute.
Since he has a decent amount of magical power, the damage added by his dark skills is quite significant.

・Rion

This is the only flying unit we've used this time.
However, its parameters and HP were low, making it just as difficult to use as in the first playthrough.
They are very strong against magic, but seem relatively vulnerable to physical attacks.

Camilla

When receiving the sacred artifact, I didn't have a suitable unit with weapon level S, so I gave it to someone else.
Although its strength is relatively low, it often managed to defeat enemies with consecutive attacks using its Meteor skill.
Their fighting strength left a rather underwhelming impression.
