I wear glasses in my daily life, including when I'm exercising.
One of the chronic problems people experience when wearing glasses is pain in the part of their nose that supports the glasses.
this time,I replaced the nose pads myself with soft silicone ones, which relieved the pain.I'd like to introduce it to you.
Causes of a sore nose
I think the reason your nose hurts is because the weight of the glasses is pressing directly on the tip of your nose, and also because the nose pads are too hard.
When you wear glasses for extended periods, the nose pads can become dirty with facial oils and other substances, causing them to shift from their original position.
When my glasses start to slip, I push them up, but it seems that this puts a strain on my nose.
After a while, the glasses inevitably start to slip again, so I find myself pushing them up more often.
It is believed that the pain is caused by the act of pushing up the glasses to compensate for the shifting caused by prolonged wear and dirt.
Items I purchased
The dirt on the nose pads should improve if you regularly wipe away any oil and grime.
Alongside those improvements, I thought that replacing the nose pads with softer ones might alleviate the pain, so I decided to purchase them.
The product I purchased from Amazon was called "SunBroy Eyeglass Nose Pads, Silicone, Prevents Glasses from Slipping, Nose Pads for Eyeglasses," and it cost 860 yen (as of June 2019).

The components are,Silicone pads, screws for mounting, and a micro screwdriver for the screws. It comes with a cover.
The package includes two sets of pads, one with anti-slip grooves and one flat (with eight screws).
This time, I removed the hard pads from my glasses and replaced them with these grooved pads.
Actual exchange
Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures during the exchange process this time.
まず現在付いているメガネパッドのネジを取り外そうと、付属のマイクロドライバーを使ってみましたが、問題が発生しました。

The screw hole size is correct, but I couldn't turn the screw properly with a screwdriver, either because the screwdriver grooves or the screw holes were too shallow.
Since I had no other choice, I used a precision screwdriver set that I had previously purchased from Amazon {ANEX Precision Screwdriver Set, Slotted & Phillips, 6-piece set, No. 900}.
Incidentally, the price of this item as of June 2019 was 558 yen.

Using this pink screwdriver, it engaged perfectly, and I was able to successfully remove the screw.
If you try to force it with the included micro screwdriver, you might strip the screw hole and make it impossible to turn.
This is the scariest part, so if the screwdriver doesn't properly engage the screw hole at first, it's best not to force it.
If you have a screwdriver that grips properly, replacing it isn't that difficult and can be done in just a few minutes.

From what I can see, the previous pads were completely transparent, but these are a slightly cloudy white color, as you can see in the image.
Some people might find it bothersome, but it didn't bother me.
Usability
The fit was very good.
It feels soft against the nose and doesn't cause any pain.
And since it's made of a non-slip material, it doesn't seem like it will shift around much at the moment.
I think it will start to shift again once it gets dirty with oil from your face.
However, when pushing up the glasses, it seems like it will cause less irritation to the face than the previous, harder pads.
One thing that concerns me a little is that this pad is made entirely of silicone.
Therefore, there is a concern that if this pad is pulled too hard, it may tear off at the point where it is secured with screws.
However, since it comes with multiple replacement pads, you probably don't need to worry too much about it.
This time I introduced the pads, but I was glad that the precision screwdriver I had bought previously came in handy.
Glasses aren't cheap, so I want to take good care of them and use them for a long time.
