Now, I've written several articles about the work of a car dealer.
This time, I'd like to write about a case of lower limb orthopedic surgery.
This is simply one example of the specific job duties of a dealer.

pelvis
Pelvic fractures are mainly caused by traffic accidents or falls from heights.
This is a rare type of fracture that can be life-threatening.
After the initial treatment is complete, you will choose between conservative therapy or surgical therapy.
In the case of surgical treatment, the condition is treated using specialized plates or external fixation devices.
hip joint
Hip fractures account for a significant proportion of fractures resulting from falls.
The type of implant used will vary depending on the location of the fracture, but the choice is up to the doctor, so dealers don't need to interfere.
Both femoral neck fractures and intertrochanteric fractures are generally treated with surgery.
Furthermore, since it is desirable to perform surgery within 48 hours of the injury and begin rehabilitation as soon as possible, arrangements are often made urgently.
For cervical fractures, treatment may involve the use of Hanson pins, multiple pinning, SHS (sliding hip screws), or artificial hip head replacement surgery.
In cases of intertrochanteric fractures, it is common to place a small shear stenosis (SHS) or intramedullary nail.
From a dealer's perspective, these implants and instruments are products they want to keep sterilized at hospitals at all times.
If we don't properly maintain this area, we'll be overwhelmed with emergency deliveries and won't have time to do our regular work.
thigh
Femur fractures include femoral shaft fractures and distal femoral fractures.
Both types of injuries often occur due to significant force, such as in traffic accidents, and are relatively less common in simple falls.
Treatment often involves intramedullary nailing or plate fixation.
There aren't particularly many variations.
膝
The most common types of knee fractures are patellar fractures and plateau fractures of the proximal tibia.
Regarding patellar fractures, the procedure is usually done using wires, so there isn't much need for a dealer.
However, for plateau fractures, a special plate is used.
Sometimes it's applied only to the outside, and sometimes it's applied to the inside as well.
Since a large amount of bone graft material may be needed, it would be helpful to ask if the hospital doesn't have any in stock.
Bone graft materials come in various types, including block and granular forms, and differ in porosity (density). However, if your doctor doesn't have a specific preference, it's best to let the manufacturer select the appropriate material for you.
tibia/fibula
This area of the foot is prone to injury, so fractures are common in this area.
For distal tibia, plates are often used, while for tibial shaft, intramedullary nails are frequently employed.
The fibula is also a part that is prone to fractures, and wires or plates are often used to repair it.
Furthermore, to treat the fruit portion, such as the medial and lateral malleolus, 3.5mm/4.0mm CCS (cannulated cancellous screws) may be used in combination.
toes
While toe fractures do occur, they are often treated with wires or similar devices, so there isn't much need for a dealer to be involved.
There are also plates available specifically for the feet.
summary
Fractures in the lower limbs almost always occur in weight-bearing areas.
If treatment and rehabilitation are not provided early, the risk of becoming bedridden increases significantly.
Disuse syndrome (a condition in which the entire body becomes inactive) that occurs due to prolonged periods of being unable to walk must be avoided.
Inevitably, these cases are often somewhat urgent, but if the patient is elderly, we want to do our best to extend their healthy lifespan as much as possible.
