The Confession!! (Zakkoku!!) Free ADV Game - Introduction and Review

The告白!!(ざっこく!!)フリーADVゲーム・紹介・感想 game
This post can be read in about 3 minutes.

In the game description,"You can confess to any character [Idiot x Novel]"I was drawn to the phrase "The Confession!! (Zakkoku!!)" and decided to play the game.
I played it and found it quite enjoyable, so I thought I'd write a review article about it.

The confession!! (What a blunder!!)

Game Overview

As a game, it's a fairly standard adventure game.
Simply read through the text and choose from the options that occasionally appear.

As shown in the image above, you will proceed through the text using a familiar type of screen.
It's not very long, and it only takes about one to two hours to complete all the endings.
You can play it with the same feeling as reading a light novel that has multiple endings.

One of the game's distinguishing features is that many of the choices include the option to "confess," allowing you to confess to anyone and everyone.
This game has a magical quality that makes you want to choose "confess" because you're curious about how the other person will react.

Because of these ridiculous choices, the protagonist himself is quite an idiot character.
The game itself progresses with a cheerful atmosphere, and there are no particularly depressing developments, so I think you'll be able to enjoy playing it.

Impressions of the gameplay

Now, let me write about my more in-depth impressions.
First of all, the game is simple; you just choose options, so it's not that difficult to complete.
The choice you make doesn't raise or lower any hidden parameter related to affection; it simply changes the character's reaction based on your previous choice.
In the second half, there is a route split, but the options are clear, so I think you'll be able to take the route you intended.

Bad endings are always the result of the choices made immediately before.
As a unique system, I thought it was convenient and nice that after seeing a bad ending, you can immediately go back to the previous choice and make a different one.
If this were true, I think I would need to load the data each time, but it's convenient that I can just keep reading without having to load anything.

Also, it was a little disappointing that the message display speed couldn't be changed.
The default speed felt a bit slow, so I wish there was an option to change it.
This might be a limitation of the production tools, so it's probably unavoidable.

My thoughts on the game (minor spoilers included)

At first, I thought it was going to be a silly game, but it gradually turned into a more normal story, which was a bit of a letdown.
However, the option to "confess" appeared frequently early on, and the urge to try it out drew me deeper and deeper into the game world.
I felt that they did a good job of grabbing the audience's attention in the early stages of the story.
Also, the story doesn't always unfold from the protagonist's perspective; there are scenes that depict the inner thoughts of other characters, which I found unusual.

In terms of graphics, I really liked the style of the character portraits.
It is characterized by a simple atmosphere with soft, muted colors rather than primary colors.
The characters followed a classic design where their appearance and personality matched, but each one had a distinct personality that made them appealing.
Even with characters I wasn't particularly attached to, seeing their individual endings often makes me quite fond of them.

I also found the humorous parts to be genuinely funny.
The scene where they argue about mushrooms versus bamboo shoots is one of my favorites.

Regarding the endings, I honestly felt that both the endings with the female characters and the endings with the male characters were good, as they conveyed a sense of friendship.
In fact, I felt that the endings for the two men were particularly well-developed.

summary

Aside from the fact that there's an option to "confess your feelings" quite often in the early stages, it's a fairly standard short adventure game.
I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but if you like the character designs or anything else even a little, why not give it a try?
