My impressions, strategy guide, and story analysis of Pinocchia (a free RPG) after the extinction of humanity.

The free game I'm introducing today is "Pinocchia After the Extinction of Humanity".
This is an RPG where the protagonist, who awakens from cryogenic sleep, builds up their forces by manufacturing androids and aims to advance to the next level.
In terms of genre, it could be described as a hack-and-slash game with strict resource management.
I found it quite interesting, so I'll write down my impressions, strategy notes, and story analysis.
The completion time was approximately 4 hours.
 

Game Overview

The protagonist awakens from cryogenic sleep and, while exploring, encounters a broken android.
Following the android's instructions, you proceed to the next level, manufacturing new androids along the way.
As the game progresses, flashback scenes are inserted, and you can learn about the background of the game world by reading documents found in dungeons.

There is no dungeon map; you advance or retreat.2It's just a choice.
"Retreat" allows you to return to base immediately.
By "moving forward," you can collect materials, encounter enemies, obtain blueprints for new androids and items, and gather information.
Each floor has a boss-like enemy, and there are several unavoidable battles.

A distinctive feature is the specification of the healing amount provided by the "Emergency Repair Kit," a recovery item.
“CurrentHPの25%Since the system is designed to "recover," it's important to recover quickly as soon as you get slightly damaged.
Emergency repair kits can be made if you use materials, but those materials are also needed for manufacturing androids and creating items.

This game will be irresistible to those who enjoy managing resources in this kind of game.

Tips for winning

The most important thing in this game is "how to minimize damage."

If you take damage, you will need to use an emergency repair kit.
To use an emergency repair kit, you need to use materials to manufacture it.
In other words, reducing damage leads to conserving materials, which means you can use more other androids and items.

Early game

It's important to attack steadily and persistently, without resorting to any tricks.
If the protagonist sleepsHPTo allow your health to recover, stand on the front lines and act as a decoy in the early stages of the battle.
If you try to protect a general-purpose unit by placing it in the back row, its attack power will decrease, and in fact, its ability to eliminate enemies will be reduced.
Let's attack together on the front lines.
Don't hesitate to use your emergency repair kit; use it as soon as possible.

Early game

Once you're able to create combat-type units, build them right away.
The combat type is,HPYou might be concerned about the red-hot blade that consumes energy, but it's extremely useful to have.
In battles against tough opponents, they're reliable because they'll use powerful techniques at crucial moments.
from now on,HPAndroids with too little or no function are often better off being disassembled and rebuilt rather than being repaired.
This method is difficult for androids that are level 10 or higher and have learned new skills, but it's not a bad option for those below level 10.

The artillery type has some weaknesses in firepower, so level10It might be best to refrain from using this until you can teach it the defense-ignoring skill.
I like characters that can attack all enemies, so I created one right away and it survived all the way to the final boss.
Since the damage output doesn't drop even from the back row, it's less likely to take damage and easier to raise.

I believe this was also around the time when it became possible to manufacture hand grenades and flashbang grenades.
this2This is a very useful item, so I always want to keep several of them on hand.
Use grenades in the early stages, and flashbang grenades from the middle stages onward. Aim for a complete victory in regular combat.
 

Mid-game

From the third tier onwards, you will be able to strengthen the conversion reactor.
Since lithium is very useful for crafting useful items, let's strengthen our lithium reserves.
The materials can be anything readily available in excess, such as iron.

The reconnaissance type significantly reduces the stress of advancing while avoiding combat with the enemy.
While it's not a valuable asset in battle, by making full use of quick save and load, it can essentially be used as a skill that eliminates encounters.
It is very useful for strategy,1I want to get in shape.

Defensive androids are also very useful because they can concentrate damage.
Since it protects members with weaker defenses, it pairs well with offensive and quick-attack types.
If you're using it as a complete shield, it's a good idea to remake it once it's taken damage.

The portable type is useful to keep in your inventory until just before the final match.
Especially from the middle of the game onwards, you'll be able to pick up a lot of items, including junk cores.
Junk cores are valuable, but they are very heavy at 10kg, so we want to make sure we don't lose any.
In the final battle, you don't need to pick up items, so let's switch to a different type.

Final stages

The blueprint for the rapid-fire type is,4You can obtain them randomly by exploring rooms on each floor.
第5Be careful, as you won't be able to obtain it once you proceed to the next level.
I was lucky enough to get it without any problems.
The fast-attack type is very useful in boss battles against a single enemy.

The Grim Reaper is a formidable opponent, but with a shield, a quick attack style, and flash grenades, you can fight him quite easily.
Even if you take a lot of damage, you can always recover if you have enough time.

To make the most of your remaining days, you can put companions who need healing into a repair capsule, go on an exploration, and return immediately. This way, you can heal and replenish materials in exchange for days.
When multiple teammates are injured or shields are needed during battles against the Grim Reaper or similar enemies, take the time to re-equip your gear.

We don't need an all-rounder.
However, since they have consistent combat capabilities, if you're unsure who to include, you should add them.
In the second half of the game, when you don't need to earn money, you don't need transport-type units, and general-purpose units are also underpowered.

For the final boss, you will need at least two artillery-type characters to provide a continuous source of damage (level 10 or higher).
Ideally, you should have both offensive and defensive characters that can deal as much damage as possible.
Honestly, if you make good use of shields and items, I think you can win without too much trouble.

I won with the following team members.

Post-completion thoughts and analysis (contains spoilers)

Regarding the game portion

This game really drove home the importance of defeating enemies quickly, given the limited healing options available.
Once I realized the usefulness of hand grenades and flashbang grenades, I was able to proceed relatively smoothly.

The game had a good balance of difficulty and challenge at each level, which kept me engaged and allowed me to play through it all in one go.
It was exciting and wonderful to see the number of new types of friends keep increasing.

The story was well-crafted, not relying on direct narration but instead using documents and other means to allow the reader to imagine the events.
I felt a creeping sense of dread, like in Resident Evil.

In a document, the first sequence of numbers in the main text represents the month, day, and time, and if the colors of those numbers are the same, it can be inferred that the same person wrote it.
Please use this to help with your analysis.

I'll write about the story based on my own inferences from the documents.
I haven't rigorously reviewed the documents, so some of my points might be inaccurate.

Who is the protagonist?

Commander of the interstellar intergenerational immigrant ship Se-Ki-Roader.
The photograph in the document "Hope is Not Lost" appears to show him and her daughter.

Why was I put into cryogenic sleep?

The patient underwent surgery to remove parasites, but due to organ damage, was given only 30 days to live.
She was in cryosleep to buy time until the cloning technology, a treatment method, could be used to restore her body.

Why did the machine malfunction?

A decision made by the Se-Ki-Roader Command.
The cult and its residents began to act recklessly, so they tried to cleanse everything by making it look like an accident.
It could also be interpreted that the protagonist took the lead in this action.

What is the true identity of the parasite?

A mystery.
It seems to originate from mathematical formulas.
However, while such parasites may have existed on Earth, it is doubtful whether they actually existed within the Se-Ki-Roader, and it appears they were used as a pretext by the military to control the inhabitants.
It is plausible that the mathematician who is the leader of the cult stated in an interview that "the parasites have disappeared from this universe."

What does the message after defeating the final boss mean?

The complete annihilation of all humanity except the protagonist is thought to signify the end of the "flood program."
At the same time, it can also be inferred that the planet is approaching a habitable planet.

What does "Pinocchia" mean?

In the fairy tale "Pinocchio," a puppet made from wood goes on various adventures and eventually becomes a human.
In other words, in this case, it's possible that the androids who have become more human-like through various experiences are being referred to as "Pinocchias."
They refer to them as "the Pinocchias" in the plural, and there doesn't seem to be any other group that fits this description.The all-purpose android who raised "me" and is referred to as "Mother" in the document also appears to have been cherished by "me" as a mother until the very end.
Perhaps the protagonist, based on this, came to see the androids as a new kind of humanity and hoped they would continue to exist on a new planet as a new species of human (Pinocchia).

If parasites spontaneously arise from mathematical formulas, then it seems plausible that life could reside within an android.
