Preface
If you've been playing Tenhou for a long time, you might notice a bias between periods of poor performance and periods of good performance.
This is unavoidable due to the nature of mahjong, and constantly losing confidence and changing your playing style will only hinder your improvement.
However, not knowing when you'll emerge from a long period of stagnation can have a negative impact on your mental health.
I'll share how I maintained my motivation and thought process.
Detailed statistics for the paid Windows version of Tenhou
The paid Windows version of Tenhou has a feature called "Detailed Statistics β".
It has features such as the ability to compile results and other data from saved game records, but among them..."Rate transition"When you display it, you will see a screen like this:

It's an image that resembles an electrocardiogram or a stock price chart.
This clearly shows the periods of increase and decrease.
Things are currently on an upward trend, so I think it's fair to say that I'm growing as a person.
However, the important thing is to understand how long the upward and downward phases are.
If you look at any of the peaks and valleys, you'll notice that the upward and downward trends generally reverse after about 50 matches at most.
In other words, even if your rating drops sharply for a while, if you persevere and play well for about 50 games, it will start to rise again.
It's dangerous to constantly change your hitting style just because you're having a few bad days.
Conversely, if the graph shows a long-term downward trend, it indicates that the strategy is becoming unsuccessful.
If the price is moving sideways, it may be difficult to move up unless some new aspect is improved.
summary
There will always be good and bad days, so try to persevere through about 50 games and avoid changing your batting style too easily.
If you focus too much on recent results, you might mistakenly believe that your good swing technique is actually a bad one.
