Landia X

This is an article about "Landia X," a game created using SRPG Studio.
It was a very carefully crafted and easy-to-play game.
It's user-friendly even for those playing SRPGs for the first time, yet it's also unique and fun.

In my case, it took me about 14 hours to complete the game on hard mode.

Game Overview (including impressions)

This is a user-friendly game that I would recommend even to SRPG beginners.

There are two difficulty levels: Normal and Hard. Unless you're particularly bad at SRPGs, Hard should be fine.
Since you can save at the beginning of each turn, it's easy to restart if needed.
Since the variables change each time you load the game, it should be easy to play even for those who like to carefully consider their options when leveling up.

map

One of the game's distinguishing features is its compact map design.
In many SRPGs, the map gets progressively larger as you progress through the game.
While this work also exhibits that tendency, I felt it was relatively subdued.
Therefore, the time required to complete each stage is relatively short, making it easy to play.

Another thing I noticed was that there seemed to be many stages that required splitting up the troops to tackle them.
To be precise, it's not always necessary to split up, but there are many situations where it's better to divide the tasks to efficiently collect treasure chests and visit villages.
Since it can sometimes feel tedious to have all your troops march along the same route, I felt that the game had been designed to keep players engaged and prevent them from getting bored.
This is where your ability to utilize the unique characteristics and strengths of each unit will be put to the test.

Furthermore, on the stage preparation screen, you will receive advice from the strategist character (Valtina) each time.
It was a very helpful feature because it provided quite useful information, such as points to note when strategizing and warnings about reinforcements.

character

Each character had their own unique graphic design, creating a sense of unity.
Overall, there are many characters with cute graphics.
Many of the characters wear tight-fitting clothes and have clearly defined muscles (mainly abdominal muscles), showing a clear attention to detail in that area.
There aren't many characters with weak personalities; each one seems to have their own distinct characteristics.

The unit consists of a total of 30 members, with a maximum of 15 members deployed.
It seems that any unit can become reasonably strong if you train them, so I think it's fine to choose based on your preference.
I feel that the difficulty level is such that you won't be stuck if you don't develop these members.

Story review (contains spoilers)

It follows a fairly standard plot, but the way the story unfolds kept me interested and entertained.
I personally liked the setting where an empire exists on an outer continent; it gave me a sense of the vastness of the world.
I also really liked that there wasn't a non-human final boss like a dark god, and that the story was entirely focused on battles between humans.
(When Sword King Miraca first appeared, I thought he was a man...)
The exchange between Shalka and Milaka was interesting because it showed a different side of Shalka, who is usually so nonchalant.

A story in which he plays an active role in the turmoil of Miracus would also be interesting and open to a lot of imagination.

I liked the collaborative relationship between Astian and Valtina.
However, I felt that Astian's proposal at the end was a little abrupt.
Perhaps it's because there weren't many events that seemed to evoke romantic feelings towards Valtina.
Astian and Valtina seemed like brother and sister, but I can't help but think that Astian might have mistaken that for romantic feelings.
However, Valtina, who muttered that there was no reason to refuse, didn't seem entirely opposed to the idea.

Strategy Notes (Contains Spoilers)

The difficulty level is hard.
Valtina provides a detailed explanation, so I don't think much of a walkthrough is necessary, but I'll write one down anyway.

Chapter 1: Astian's First Battle

This is the first map, serving as a tutorial.
You should be able to clear it without any problems as long as you proceed while checking the roles and usability of each unit.

Chapter 2 Traveler

I'd like to head to Sheik and Valtina's place as soon as possible, but I can't just leave the village alone.

If you can position the two of them as shown in the image, you can protect Valtina while Sheik can benefit from the terrain's effects.
If Valtina can be used for indirect attacks while finishing off the enemy, I think the two of them can definitely withstand the attack.
We could send a few of them towards Valtina, but I think it's fine for the main force to advance from the left.

In the village, you can obtain an estoc that is effective against heavily armored individuals, and the treasure chest contains a longsword.

Chapter 3 Bandit Fortress

Since reinforcements will arrive on Sharka and Selefia's side, you'll have no choice but to split your troops into two if you want to collect the treasure chests.
Reinforcements will appear sporadically, mainly from the stairs, and on turn 9, six cavalry units will come out from the northwest.
Be careful to prevent the character who goes to open the treasure chest from getting caught up in the incident.
The contents of the treasure chest are a Warhammer (effective against heavy armor), a Speed card, and a Longbow (range 2-3).

Chapter 4: The Beginning of Turmoil

On turn 8, enemies surrounding Craig will start to move towards him.
By the 10th turn, reinforcements will start appearing sporadically from bases.
The treasure chest contains a Power card.

In the village, Dadalion will join your party.
He's a useful second healer, so you should definitely recruit him.
(However, the growth of magical power is poor...)

Chapter 5: The Witch's Island

Let's follow Valtina's advice and divide our troops into two groups, one heading north and the other south.
Since there are many enemies wielding axes, you'll want to assign characters who can use swords and healers to both sides.

As the village information states, you can go ahead and defeat the two characters with faces.
The female character standing next to the boss will also heal the boss if left alone, so defeat her with ranged attacks.

In the northern village, Selene, who is a Skyrider, becomes your ally.
Since its main weapon is a spear, it won't be very useful on this map, but it's the first flying unit.
The treasure chest contains a Life card.
Halder is a good guy.

Chapter 6: The Defense of the Free Cities

Since there are many enemies, push units like Almagita, Gunbolt, Zank, and Leroy to the front lines, and use obstacles to hold back the enemy's advance.
It's easier if you can use high-defense members to hold back the narrow areas of the arena, such as the bottom left square or the top two squares, and push back to the broken wall.
The victory condition is to defend for 15 turns, but let's aim to defeat the boss, Gotton, while also gaining experience points.

Let's push back the cavalry unit heading downwards, while holding the area around the village where the road is one square wide, all the way to the other side of the wall.
If you give a Javelin to a sturdy member and send them ahead, you can deal a significant amount of damage.
Be careful not to let Zank charge in too recklessly with a javelin, as he's likely to get defeated easily.

Be careful, as there are often enemies equipped with special attack weapons such as halberds.
Also, mages who possess Thunder Smite are more likely to land critical hits, so this is something to be aware of.

After defeating the boss, Gotton, and clearing the stage, your older brother will praise you a little.

The treasure chest contains 3000G, a halberd, a physique card (on the isolated island in the lower right), a flame sword (top left), and a certificate of training (to the left of the isolated island in the lower right).
The villages contain the treasure chest key (the second closest village to the starting point), the skill card (the upper village), and the wand of restoration (the lower left village).
In the village closest to your starting location, Kisscut will join your party.

QA7 Agatho's Arena

You will be battling three teams: one using swords, one using spears, and one using axes, as well as Craig's team, which will be an additional challenge.
Since each opponent has different weaknesses, it's a good idea to bring along key members that are effective against each opponent.
In my case, I chose five characters: Zank, Shalka, Almagita, Tita, and Dadalion.
When facing an axe-wielding team, we didn't have any members who used swords, which are an advantageous weapon, but since we selected members with high combat ability, we didn't have much trouble.
Tita is very useful because she can deal high damage and perform ranged attacks.

The sword team is vulnerable to many enemies with special weapons against mounted units, such as Zenoa (who joins your party after clearing the game) and those wielding estocs, so be very careful.

If you use the numerous pillars to avoid being surrounded by a large group, you won't have too much trouble.
You have time to regroup after defeating each team, so recover before challenging the next one.
Craig's team's dragon riders can be easily defeated with Tita's Wind Ripper.
The mage's Corruption attack is painful, so attack it with a javelin or similar weapon to take it down in one hit.

If you win all the rounds, you'll receive valuable items, including movement cards, and a considerable amount of prize money.
Ideally, we'd like to defeat them all.

Chapter 7: Batral Border Fortress

This is a difficult challenge early on.
By turn 15, the Gatlantis will begin to move along with the reinforcements of the Cataphracts.
Therefore, as Valtina advises, you need to have various units carry the keys to the doors and treasure chests.
First, I'll go and press the switch so that Hyderic, who is isolated, can enter.
At the same time, let's also send some units to the south and make some progress there as well.

Since Holmer, who is close to the starting position, will prioritize using the Staff of Weakening, you can pass him quickly and safely by going around to the north.
However, enemies will also be advancing from the left, so use the narrow path and block their path with sturdy units while you fight.
If Hyderick enters the area, he can be used as a powerful vanguard.
You might feel it's a waste of experience points, but using it will make things easier.

If you don't distribute your units effectively, it might be difficult to collect all the treasure chests.
In my case, I wasn't able to distribute the door keys and treasure chest keys properly, so I couldn't collect the two treasure chests in the bottom right corner near the boss in the south.
If you give up on some of the treasure chests, the game becomes considerably easier.

To the upper left of Holmer is a Proof of Training, directly south of it is a treasure chest in the forest and at the corner of the wall, also containing a Proof of Training, the small room on the right contains a Lucky Card, 3000G, and a Mithril Spear, the small room on the left contains a Potion of Protection, a Staff of Great Healing, and a Mithril Sword, and the treasure chests located above and below in the outdoor area on the left side of the map contain Griffithbeak and a Magic Card.
I'm curious about the treasure chest in the upper right corner of Holmer's area, but you can collect it in a later map.

Chapter 8: Betrayal

This is a busy map where you have to collect treasure chests, visit villages, and be chased by enemies from behind.
However, if you divide the troops into units with clearly defined roles and responsibilities, it's actually not that difficult.
If you don't plan to deploy a lock-picking unit, you should buy a treasure chest key at the shop near the starting point.
The treasure chest key you get from Yangyang, who joins you at the start of the game, won't be enough.

Yangyang collects the treasure chest in the bottom right and then visits the village to the east to recruit the archer Shadi.
In that case, you don't need to defeat the enemy next to the treasure chest.

As the main force advanced eastward, it would engage in combat with an air force advancing southward, right around the mountains.
Their movement speed is troublesome, but if you equip sturdy units with javelins or pyrams and counterattack, they're not so scary.
Since their defense and HP are low, there's no need to deploy archer units.
Continue advancing, then divide your forces into groups to deal with the spearmen in the east, visit the villages in the northwest, and deploy them as efficiently as you like.

In the northern village, Namis, who can use dark magic, will join your party.
It has the ability to absorb HP, making it incredibly powerful.

The treasure chest to the south contains an Aerial Blade (wind magic), the treasure chest just above Shadi's village contains a Certificate of Training, the treasure chest slightly north of Craig contains a Life Card, and the one to the right of the old castle contains 5000G.

Chapter 9: Connecting Hopes

This map hinges on the division of roles among the units.
Since there are often not enough healers, make sure everyone carries healing potions.
Since walls with pebbles scattered outside them can be destroyed, you should send units to block those areas.
On turn 15, the boss will start moving along with many reinforcements.

The group of mages in the upper left can be wiped out with either Namis or Shadi equipped with Magician's Bite.
Shadi has a preemptive strike skill, so if an enemy attacks from a range of 2, he can quickly defeat them before they can even attack.

You'll need to hold off the air force in the passage just above the starting position, so Armagita or Gunbolt would make it easier.
The cavalry unit in the lower left has Shock Lances, which are effective against infantry, so we'd like to block them with heavy infantry as well.

From the door just below the starting position, heavily armed infantry will soon be advancing north.
If you build a wall with Asteans and other units that don't want to go too far, it's not that scary.
Infantry and archer units will be charging in from the right, but unless we approach them, they should head towards the passage that is holding back the air force.
If you head in that direction, collect the items in the small room on the bottom right, and slowly make your way north to defeat Craig (aiming for the Flamberge).

The three treasure chests in the leftmost room contain a Training Certificate, 5000G, and an Ice Grave; the three treasure chests in the bottom right room contain a Training Certificate, Explosion, and a Halberd; the three treasure chests in the top right room contain a Griffith Beak, a Training Certificate, and Uchigatana (a sword with a high critical hit rate); and the top right treasure chest, which can only be obtained by flying units, contains a Lucky Orb (increases luck growth rate).

Chapter 10: Underroad

For the first time in a while, I can take my time and tackle the game at my own pace without worrying about the clock.
Since there are different types of enemies, such as orcs and dark elves, pay attention to their characteristics before challenging them.
Opening the treasure chest will cause reinforcements to appear from a nearby hole for a short time, so open it only when you are ready.

As long as the durability of the boss's weapon and your own inexpensive weapon lasts, you can slowly grind for experience points.
I think you've accumulated enough training tokens by now, so let's change some of your characters to advanced classes.
By giving your characters items like Lucky Orbs and Skill Orbs and earning money with them, you can strengthen them more easily.
If you can successfully dodge attacks without destroying the opponent's weapon, it's theoretically possible to earn money indefinitely.

The treasure chests are as follows: the one on the left platform contains Thunder Chris, the one on the right platform contains Smart Javelin, the one between the cliffs on the bottom right contains 5000G, and the one in the bottom right corner contains a Technique Orb.

Chapter 11: The Holy City of Parasha

This is a map where reinforcements will appear after a while.
Aim to capture the castle within around 15 turns.
I think it's about time we started to see an increase in members with higher-level positions.
If you keep your ace unit at the forefront, you shouldn't have too much trouble.

On turn 5, pirates will appear from the bottom right of the map.
Be careful, as leaving your village unattended will result in it being plundered.
In the village, Lancer Chocola will join your party.

On turn 11, 10 flying units will appear from the open area in the northern wall of the map.
It has a Great Spear, so its attack power shouldn't be underestimated, but its HP isn't high, so if you can get the first move, you should be able to defeat it easily.

From turn 13 onwards, reinforcements will begin to appear from each fort.
If you set up camp around the fort beforehand, it's easier to gain experience points.

On turn 16, a large number of mounted units will appear from the desert in the lower left.
You're probably close to clearing the game by this point, but it's best to just ignore the obstacles and finish it.

The treasure chest just below the starting point contains 3000G, the treasure chest sandwiched between the two forts in the bottom center contains a Certificate of Training, the village below that contains a Staff of Magic Barrier, the leftmost village contains a Staff of Dada (Daddarion's training staff), and the top left treasure chest contains a Potion of Protection.
Considering it's located in the most difficult-to-find place, the protective potion is disappointing.

Chapter 12: The Empire's Intervention

There are various routes, but it's best to divide your forces into three groups: one heading to the western village, one to defend Malpas, and one to attack the enemy boss.
A Makaru (or perhaps a demon hunter?) wielding a Mage Slayer heads towards Malpas, but allied heavy infantry often manage to hold him off.
I feel like things will work out even if we don't rush.

In the village located in the lower left, Leviathan can join your party, and in the village to its lower right, you can obtain a lucky card.
There are pirates nearby, so let's send our allies over as soon as possible.
The pirates won't actively approach you, so you can leave them alone after visiting the village.

In the second half, reinforcements of flying troops and cavalry will appear from near the boss in the upper right corner.
Since the flying units appear in locations that can only be reached with a longbow, you should counter them with flying units or similar weapons.
Be careful, as they may also have a Warhammer with a special attack against heavily armored enemies.

Regarding the treasure chests, the one directly above your starting position contains a Mithril Spear, the one to the left of your starting position contains 3000G, the treasure chest near the shop contains a Training Certificate, and the heavily guarded treasure chest furthest north contains a Blessed Ribbon (which slightly increases all growth rates).

Chapter 13: The Crimson Scepter

A royal scepter (Ōshaku). According to Wikipedia, it's "a symbolic and decorative staff held by a monarch."

On turn 8, mages will appear from each staircase.
They're all equipped with Fire Rain, which has a range of 3 to 8, so they're a real pain.
On turns 9 and 10, three flying units will appear from the upper left.
Be careful to prevent units visiting the village from being attacked.
On turn 11, a Clansha mage unit will appear from the upper right.
You can easily defeat a Clansha by attacking it from a range of 3 with a longbow or similar weapon, even without using Coldblack.

You can get the Adamas Sword in the village in the upper left.
The contents of the treasure chest in the small room are: a ranged healing staff, a training token, a warhammer, Heaven's Gate, a longbow, and 5000 gold.

QA13 Magium Arena

This arena has switches for archers, mages, and mounted warriors.
Once you've defeated all three teams, Craig's team will challenge you again.
The items and prize money are great, so you should definitely give it a try.
Compared to before, there should be a lot more advanced classes available, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

The reward for the first battle is 2000G + Adamas Spear.
The reward for the second battle is 3000G + Creeping Death.
The reward for the third battle is 5000G + Proof of Training.
The final reward is 10,000G + Giant's Belt (Physique +4).

Chapter 14: The Border Fortress Revisited

This is a map I previously cleared, but the right half, the deeper part of the fortress, has been added, and it has reappeared as a larger map.
There are treasure chests scattered around, but it might be easier to let the enemy thieves collect them and then defeat them when they escape outside.

When you advance to about the position shown in the picture, ambushes will appear all at once on your next turn.
They appear at the top of the stairs, so just be careful to make sure no non-combatants get taken out.

On turn 9, five cavalry units with Shock Lances will appear in the upper left of the map, and five flying units will appear in the upper right.
If you're going to retrieve the treasure chests outside, it's a good idea to bring a few bodyguards with you.

As for the contents of the treasure chests, the one closest to the starting position contains a Technique Card, the room on the left outside contains a Training Certificate, the room on the right outside contains a Nodachi, the treasure chest in the square room in the middle contains a Star Shooter (bow), the upper right of the map contains a Fire Rain, and the upper right of the boss Holmer contains an Adamas Axe.

Chapter 15: Recapture of the Royal Capital

The pirates in the bottom left of the map are heading towards the village in the top left, so make sure you take care of them.
If you have any well-developed flying units, you can pursue them from the rear; otherwise, open the side door and advance as quickly as possible.
A direct assault through the center is only slightly annoying because of the baristas; if you proceed slowly, there shouldn't be any problems.
However, be careful, because if you enter Clansha's attack range, it will move from its base and launch a powerful attack.

In the top left village, you can acquire the Emerald Sword (magic sword); in the village slightly to the left of the center of the map, you can acquire the Defense Card; and in the top right village, you can acquire Mahamut (wizard).

Chapter 16: Macan's Treasury

We will now learn about Shalka's background, which has been a mystery until now.
It would be best to divide your forces into two groups: one to engage Craig via the upper route, and another to infiltrate the wall from below and destroy the catapults.
You can take your time on the lower route, but be careful on the upper route as there are villages there and they might be destroyed by the Vikings.

You can obtain the Red Special (axe) in the northern village.
The treasure chests contain, one next to the boss, the Demon Power Gauntlets (Strength +2), and the five below the boss, the Griffith Beak, Halberd, 7000G, Speed Card, and Training Certificate.
The Demon Power Gauntlets will be opened by thieves if left unattended, so the unit that defeated Craig should advance quickly to have them in time.
When you open the door near the boss, heavily armored soldiers will appear from the stairs.
Be careful.

Having met him many times, and because he genuinely loves fighting, he was a character I couldn't help but like.
I imagine that "Let's fight" is written but read as "Let's do it."

Chapter 17: Battle on the Plateau

We'll clash head-on with the Gatlantean cavalry, without any tricks.
If you utilize fences and fortifications and strategically position your allies, they're not such a formidable opponent.
Since there are no enemies that use indirect attacks, this map is relatively easy in a way.

Chapter 18: The Last Troopers

This map requires teams to work together, with some units pressing switches and others attacking the shooters.
The door to the central route is open because a unit is waiting on the nearest corresponding switch.
Once Astian has passed through the door, you can move aside, so let's advance the troops to activate the switches in order.
When you press the switch, reinforcements will appear from the nearby stairs, so it's safer for two or three people to step on the switch.

During the enemy's turn on turn 15, reinforcements of flying units will appear in the four corners of the map.
This unit is quite powerful, so let's clear the stage quickly without engaging it.

They're strong even without character portraits.

You can obtain the Staff of Rescue in the village on the right, and the Shock Lance in the village on the left.

Chapter 19: The Sword that Divides the Sea

As the title suggests, on the third turn, the river flowing through the center of the map splits, creating a path.
Let's proceed by strategically placing wall units in the narrower areas.

Each enemy unit's commander is powerful, so try to lure them in with regular soldiers and defeat them one by one.
If you effectively use your allied forces as a shield, you can fight without being subjected to a fierce attack from the opponent's turn.
Partway through, Halder and his men will come as reinforcements from the southern seas, but by the time they arrive on the battlefield, the fighting may already be over.

Miraca and Clansha will not take action on their own.
They will retreat once you defeat the three generals.

Final Chapter: The Sword King of the Setting Sun

This is the final battle against the eight Mirax demon generals.
As the advice suggests, the enemy doesn't usually act in large numbers at once, so if you attack first, you can fight at a convenient time.
Many units don't have any means of indirect attacks, so in those cases, you can just weaken them thoroughly before engaging in combat.
Be careful, as only Elias the God Hunter has a range of 5.

Character impressions (contains spoilers)

I will write about my personal impressions of the units I deployed in the final map.
If you level up to level 20 by repeatedly attacking the boss and then change classes, most units will become quite strong.
Namis is an extremely powerful character, so much so that it makes you wonder if there should be an option to choose whether or not to include Namis in the difficulty settings.
Those who want a firm texture until the very end might want to refrain from using it themselves.
By the way, I made it incredibly useful.

Astean

He has grown remarkably, especially in defense, and after class change, he has become an ace player capable of fighting on the front lines.
While the protagonist may seem weak at the beginning, this is a unit you'll want to power up by making full use of their exclusive weapon.

Zank

His strength and defensive skills improved significantly, and before we knew it, he had become our ace player in the early stages of the season.
This was the first unit I changed classes for in my playthrough.
His defensive skills improved somewhat slower compared to the beginning of the season, but he performed well until the very end.
In the latter half of the battle, due to the type of weapon used, there were times when the hit rate was inconsistent or I couldn't attack twice, but it was still very reliable.

Leroy

Compared to Zank, his growth was slower, and in the later stages, I had to force a class change before he reached level 20.
Because of its low strength, fighting frontline enemies was difficult without a special attack weapon.
However, for some reason, his defensive stats improved significantly, making him a more reliable damage dealer than Zank.

dolly

Because its strength and skill stats grew well, it proved to be a useful long-range attack unit.
Since longbows are relatively easy to obtain, I was able to take down many enemies behind walls from a range of 3.

Gunbolt

Although speed was a weakness, our defensive capabilities helped us out from the start.
Since it was already late in the game, I changed his class before he reached level 20.
Nevertheless, his defensive skills were top-notch, so he was able to serve as a defensive wall for a long time.

Tita

As a valuable magic attacker, she naturally grew stronger from the beginning of the game.
It's a little disappointing that there aren't many interactions with other characters, but she becomes much more useful once she can use a staff.

Valtina

In the early stages, I deployed them more for the benefit of their command abilities than for their combat effectiveness.
However, since it allowed me to almost exclusively obtain the magic swords, I treated it like a magic-type unit and developed it accordingly.
While supporting the vanguard allies, they played a crucial supporting role behind the scenes, delivering the final blows and dealing damage.

seek

As a crucial key character, I was deployed in many stages.
While he can be a valuable asset as a swordsman in the early stages, he inevitably runs out of steam in the later stages.
Nevertheless, having special attack weapons or weapons with special effects can make you a valuable asset in a pinch.

Sharka

Although it had weaknesses in defense, it had high offensive power and fought well even against tough opponents.
He seemed like a thuggish character at first glance, but surprisingly, he was of noble birth.

Selephia

He played a vital role as a healer until the very end.
Despite appearing strong-willed, she didn't play a significant role in the story.
Because Dadalion had low magical power, Selephia used him for a long time.

Corey

She was originally just a character for shopping, but as she leveled up, she became a top attacker.
If you equip your units with weapons that can be used both at close range and range, or weapons that are especially effective against mounted units, you can charge into large numbers of enemies and dominate them.

Almagita

It was a unit that defied conventional wisdom about heavy knights, being both tough and fast.
Far from being a tank, it was incredibly effective as a tough damage dealer, able to charge into the enemy alone without being defeated.
Small stature can be almost entirely compensated for by speed.

Zenoa

I wanted to raise a swordsman-type character, so I did.
However, there weren't many opportunities for him to shine, and I ended up changing his class before he reached level 20.
I only found out she was a female character at the ending.

Namis

The true Dynasty Warriors.
Thanks to a skill that restores HP equal to the damage dealt, you can send this unit alone into a fray and wipe out the enemy.
Because of its low luck, it will be helplessly defeated if hit by a critical hit, but this weakness can be eliminated by compensating with items such as Luck Orbs.
As long as you have Namis, you shouldn't get stuck in this game.

selenium

I tried to raise a flying character, but I wasn't able to fully develop them.
While they are useful for collecting items and visiting villages, I felt that there weren't many maps in the later stages where flying units were particularly beneficial.

Landia X -V3 Edition-
