I don't usually play quiz games, but I was curious about this one, so I gave it a try.
Recently, I've been feeling physically and mentally exhausted due to poor health, so this was a great way to unwind and find some relief.
I'd like to give a brief introduction to the game's content and other aspects.
IQuest
Game Overview
Game flow
This is a classic multiple-choice quiz game.
The completion time was approximately 3 hours.
様々なアシストキャラを選択することにより、対戦を有利に進めることができます。
The basic flow of the game is as follows:ストーリー進行→ステージ選択→アシストキャラ選択→対戦→ストーリー進行...That's the general idea.

You have a certain degree of freedom in choosing your stage.
Once you clear all the unlocked stages, new areas will be unlocked as the story progresses.
As you gradually unlock more places to go, it gives you that exciting feeling you get in an RPG.
story
ストーリーとしては、王道な展開の作りです。
The protagonist, Esse, awakens in the ruins with amnesia and meets the members of the research team.
While working alongside the research team, you will try to uncover your own true identity and take on a formidable enemy that is gradually revealed.
There aren't any unexpected plot twists, but I feel it's a story that you can accept with a relaxed and open heart.
Because of my personal interests, I've recently been playing a lot of unconventional games, so this felt refreshingly different.
Graphics and music
All the characters that appear are beastmen, and they are depicted in retro-style pixel art.
Each character is based on a different animal, and their personalities vary greatly.
There aren't any overly edgy characters, so you can watch it with a calm mind.
The graphics during battles are quite detailed, with both enemy and ally movements being very well-crafted.
The attack animations that occur when you answer correctly vary depending on the opponent, and you can really feel the love for the work and characters.
The music has a retro feel, reminiscent of the Famicom era.
The comforting feeling I get, which is somewhat akin to nostalgia, might be because it evokes memories of games from my childhood.
battle

This is the battle scene, or rather, the quiz scene.
Before entering the stage, you will be asked if you want to use an assist.
There are no penalties for using it, so decide based on your own abilities.
In my case, I first try without assistance, and only use assistance if I lose.
Depending on the combination of assists, you can eliminate up to two options, and you're unlikely to get stuck due to difficulty.

In the battle screen, you win by reducing your opponent's life points to zero.
If you answer the quiz correctly, you can inflict damage on your opponent, but if you choose the wrong answer, you will take damage.
I felt the difficulty level of the questions was just right.
The genres were diverse, and I could answer reasonably well in the genres I was good at. For the areas I wasn't good at, it was a matter of deduction and intuition, but that was about it.
You can easily retry, and there's no time limit, so I think you can easily clear it if you're willing to use any means necessary.
When both players have only a little life left, there's a lot of tension when it comes to answering questions.
Impressions and strategy notes
This game reminded me of the simple joy of getting the quiz answer right.
In short, the variety of character attack animations is extensive and never gets boring to watch.
When you retry the same genre multiple times, you might encounter the same problems, but thanks to that, there are some genres you struggle with that you can finally overcome, so the difficulty level was just right.
Since you can't use assists against the final boss, the battle was quite long, giving it a great sense of a serious, head-to-head fight.
I had almost no complaints regarding the quiz game portion.
As for assist characters, Randy is definitely the most powerful, as he eliminates one option in every genre.
Additionally, Yuti, who restores your life when you're in a pinch, is also easy to use.
Luca, who can perform additional attacks with consecutive correct answers, is surprisingly powerful and can quickly reduce the opponent's life points in genres he excels at.
Since his assist abilities are limited to a specific genre, he inevitably pales in comparison to Randy, so it might have been more interesting if he had a wider variety of assist abilities.
I myself used to be hooked on "Quiz Magic Academy" at the arcade, but I haven't played a quiz game in a long time.
If you're interested, why not give it a try?
